Default central heating plumbers

i have afull house to pipe up as was going to use 10mm copper until i saw the price of copper

now having never used plastic - whats it like ? all pipe work is going behind the plaster and through the walls, and whats this about having to run the last meter back to the boiler in copper ??? why ?

what about connecting to the radiators, do they do speedfit radiator TRV's ? or will the olives work ?

i did my bungalow years ago, and being just that all i had to do was make the feed and return into the middle of the attic and fit some manifolds on the ends and take off to each rad, now with a house, is it just the same idea ?
obviously you can just series the rads other wise the water flow would be stopped by the rad thats off, so i just parrallel them as i did in the bungalow then ?

run a pair round the house then take off to each rad from each feed and return ?

cheers

plastic pipes are better than they used to be.

make sure it barrier pipe and its all pretty staright forward.

Last metre doesnt have to be copper as far as I know? I have seen a god few system that are plastic straight on the boiler.

i replied to this but its gone

Plastic is far better but if seen IE tails to rads then do that in copper. If the pipe comes to rad valves from rear our of sight then yeah they do pushfit TRV's

It does need to be copper mate and atleast 1m infact if you are using a S or Y plan system then it need to be in copper till you get to the auto bypass, or if a combi then a good meter on both the flow and returns this is due to, if the temp stat and overheat stat dont operate and the water temp goes into the 90s and above the plastic pipe and fitting begin to melt or atleast go floppy and then they fall off and water ( very hot water ) goes every where.

manafactures say it could melt the plastic pipe in some cases 1 or 2 meters is ample ,remember the gas pipe still has to be copper bud. Dont want to run it in plastic and find out it aint any good

You HAVE to use copper back to the boiler....ie at least 2 metres imho

I would also do the rad tails and any visable pipe in copper...looks nicer
