Default trade ins

A mate of mine has an E36 M3 evo and is looking into trading it in for a mitsubishi warrior pick up.
He paid about 9-10k pounds for the beema a year and a half ago so I told him he should expect about 6-7k on trade in. He just phoned and told me he got offered £4250.
is that about right??

we just traded in a merc CLK320, alot of garages in 'average' areas were offering peanuts saying "its a big 3.2 engine and we just cant shift them" so we went to a posh garage who had alot of big engined motors on the forecourt, who can shift more prestiguous cars and we got a good trade-in price on it off an audi A4.

so with flasher cars, it seems that going to the right garage in the right area you can get decent money on a trade-in.

I was going to say that sounds like a crap price he's been given, but after having a look on autotrader it seems ok for PX price now. They seem to have come down in price with a bang in the last year or so. Theres a couple of decent looking cabs on for £5000 and £5500.
