ds 2500 pads?

Team HOTHOT!
I've just sent an enquiry to Mike R and Martin H about these for my E39 aswell - top pad that I had on my cossie and never faded once on the 'Ring and still felt good on the road
You'll not like the price tho - looking at 100ish maybe more for a set of front pads

I'm supposed to be saving for either a property or something else and brake pads that cost the earth are, well, expensive in comparison

What calipers/where did you buy them from?
I got mine for AP 4 pot calipers off Mike R for Ł100!
Great pad, although your wheels WILL get VERY dirty

Jay,
It is a big heavy car, so personally I think you will find that you will be boiling the fluid before the pads get too hot on track (which you will notice by the peddle going to the floor).
To get it track ready, you really need a good quality brake fluid (obviously I would always use SRF - expensive, but it's fit and forget), braided hoses and DS3000s. I think you will fry the DS2500s on a 400bhp car that weighs 1700-1800kg wet (forget manufacturers "dry" weights), as these pads are suited to much lighter / less powerful cars.
I would just keep the standard pads for road use and buy a set of DS3000s (all round) to put in for track days. But again, you're wasting your time if the fluid is not up to scratch. Standard road car fluid is not expected to have to deal with the kind of heat track use generates, so it WILL boil. Just be careful, as soon as the peddle starts to get spongy, slow down and do a FULL cooling down lap not touching the brakes, but getting sufficient air to them (i.e. don't drive TOO slowly).

no, stay with the ds2500 mate spot on for what you are doing

Used them in my E46 for the last ring trip and found them absolutely excellent, with no hint of fade and they are still in now, around 8 thousand miles later.
One of the BMW's major advantages over many road cars is its well designed and purposefull brake cooling channels that direct very high speed and volume air to the discs and calipers allowing them to deal with heat FAR better than many "lesser" cars.

i cant get you mintex 1144's for around 25 quid with the vat mate
the 1155's are made to order, will take 6 weeks but can get them for around 85 quid
cant do ferodo though, every supplyer i deal with also dont do em as they all got fucked off with being short shipped on deliverys
ironic considering they make OUR OWN brake pads

hi mike
i think they will be ok, as long as he has got decent brake fluid
i think the 3000's would ware the discs out rapidly
i know a few people that have different discs for different pads
jay if you have bought the ds2500 just try them
if they are no good then try the 3000's
bigger discs would help alot on the matter
simple
