Friends.. How many "Real" ones do you have?
Ive recently been led to consider this due to the fact im moving house...
Ive had the usual hastle of phoning every company in teh world to stop gas and electric, start new contracts, cancel services and deliveries, move addresses and numbers, try to syncronise it all etc etc.. im sure your familiar with the pain of it all
Well, i thought id ask a few mates about the loan of a van and some labour this weekend, as you do... and got all the half expected replies:
"Um.... saturday.. erm, sure my missus has planned summat"
"Erm.. got no tax pal sorry" Saw him 3hrs later in town in it
"Soz Stu... any other time pal, but not this weekend"
Etc Etc Etc......
Was then chatting to a mate i have in another town about life in general and the fact im moving house...
"Wounder, loads of stress Stu" he says.. lol
He then says:
"You need help? A van perhaps? Helping hands?"
"Erm.. well, yes" i reply, "but your miles away pal so no worries"
"No bother... give me 2 seconds"
He then dissapears to run it by his brother who has access to a work van.....
He comes back with:
"Right pal, me and Craig will be down at your work Friday tea time to help you move, Craigs sorted the works truck. We will help you out friday night with the small stuff and then have some beers together. On Saturday you go to work and we will move everything with Nicole and the kids whilst your at work so you dont lose any Money and Baz has said hes coming to help too!"
The shocking thing is these particular mates are in fooking Sheffield.. some 1.5hrs away in a van and theyve just dropped everything to help an out of town mate out at short notice...
Im touched folks, makes you realise just who your friends are at times like this.... best of all, many of you know these fellas..

Had huge bust up with my dad - needed somewhere to live v quick
....End up living with lambchop, beaky.....(and somehow matty
:P) by the next evening! - met em all off the old RS board LOL
Had 3 other offers same day too! 2 in very messy flats and one with a copper so i took the above lol 
Ace when you "notice" how good your mates are
I would have done a big up thread but their heads are big enough LOL

What stu doesn't know is gus is now on "The Manor" estate, screwdriver in hand, finding a suitable van. Once stu goes to work on Saturday, Gus and his boys are going to fill the van and do a runner, leaving stu with only a beanbag to sit on and a gameboy.................. with no games

but seriouslt nice one boys
it's weird thing friends, i bend over backwards to help people
but when it came to working on MY car, no-one help me with my head gasket problem bar 1, yes 1 friend.
and when it came to stripping my car, again only 1 friend helped
so i'd like to BIG UP 3DR-RALLY-SLAG, aka Paul
but seriouslt nice one boys

andy r came all the way from galsgow then on to essex to tow my s2 on a trailer with a chance of being pulled for being overloaded fookin top boy and gee too takeing me to get my staples out yesterday a few good mates is all ya need met so many willing to stabya when ya not thier and only got me into trouble jelousys a bitch and a mate killa

It is times like this ya know ur m8s!
remeber last year when I was movin about 45mins form where i was! the day b4 nat day! which is also the same day as rally super car day!
bunch of my m8 didnt go to rally supoer car day to help me cause they knew how much goin to national day meant to me as if we didnt get it all done on the sat i coudlnt go on the sunday!
also when ya crash ya car & u get ppl from all over fookin country offering to give ya a hand strippin it down!
& when ur mrs rips yer heart out in front of your very eyes & starts chewin on it yer good m8s r there to pick ya back up & get ya drunk!
Good m8s r very hard to find!

This is a good question Stu.
As in my circle of friends outside RS's about 2 i could depend on in crisis and i known these for many many years....BUT some people i met from this board and have known for hardly anytime at all are considered more reliable than known mates from childhood/young adult life!

youve always goot loads of mates to OFFER a hand but theres only usually a few true friends who are there when u actually need the hand

Tho it pains me admit it got loads of mates at the match(Rudey saw the extent of this when i took him to Forest v Sheep)
But true friends are hard to come by i mean real true friends

i "know" a lot of peeps, but true friends i can count on 1 hand,
everones quick to be yor mate when they have a prob, or ring at home with a PC prob or summit, but I have found to my cost that when i need propoer help it is not very forthcoming, i get more help from people of here to be honest, how sad is that as the majority dont even really know me
