the ad states that its stolen/recovered and he has the paperwork to reregister it a cosworth just sound iffy but quite fancy this if the price is right just dont want a dodgy motor on my hands

I'd be interested to know what gearbox and back end its got in it- if its t5 etc and is a good price- bolting a cossie engine and loom in etc would make it for a very cheap bit of fun.
Its not the sort of thing I would drive round willy nilly though...
If it attracts the attention off decent traffic police it will get pulled apart and you may loose it if its not as clean as they make out.
You state you're no expect which says to me STAY AWAY from this car and this king of thing as if you dont know what you're looking for with cars of dubious history its just waiting to bite you on the ass and loose you all your hard earned cash.
As stated- escos on a J- Yes early ones.
Rally cars dont always have cosworth log books.
