The quality of the paint job is really down the the skill and technique of the painter.

Someone may be able to advise you on technique, but the finished product will depend on how good you are at painting/spraying, and no offence mate, but if you have to ask i assume you havn't done it before? If that is the case, then your always going to struggle to get decent results in my opinion.

Thanks for your comments guys. Sorry I should've explained. It's not me spraying the car. I had the car stripped and sprayed top to bottom 2 years ago. Nows its covered in stone chips worse than before, rust is coming through also, and some edges the colour has worn through the colour. I've had the car over 5 1/2 years, and will probably own it still in 5 1/2 years. I'm really cautious now about who touches my car this time. Needless to say not the same place. But different garages have said different things about the number of coats of colour & lacquer etc, and how long to bake the car for after. Along with treating, the small areas effected by rust, 're not big enough to cut out, so if there's anything that is of use to apply to it, or if just grind back then primer etc.

Thanks again

baking the car for X amount of hours doesn't harden the paint anymore it just quickens up the drying time between coats. Paint takes a quite a few weeks to harden fully.

Any good bodyshop will do a good job mate. Every painter will do it different according to their technique to get the best results.

The problem is finding a good bodyshop as im sure your aware. Try and get some recommendations and then go down to the bodyshop and ask to see some of their work and maybe even some of their work in progress, and then go back to see the result when its complete.

Any decent bodyshop would be more than happy to let you do this. If not, then walk away and go to the next one.

Remember though mate, you dont always get what you pay for, and a high price does not always mean a decent job and vice versa.
