Picked up my Evo 5
Well i set off to Belfast to collect my new car yesterday - up at 6,30am for a 10.45 flight into the City airport, i was met by Paul selling the car, checked it over etc...completed the deal, jobs a good un - innit ? NO! I rang Stena Line at 2.00 pm to book on the SeaCat for 17.10 sailing into Stranraer for 19.20 and a 260mile drive home. I get to the check in at 16.20 they tell me due to a technical problem on the HSS we have to catch a ferry now at 19.00pm not arriving at Stranraer until 22.00pm - not impressed at all but what can you do. So they laid on free drinks, gave us a free meal voucher and 20% off future travel etc...So we set sail and i gets to Dumfries at 22.00pm - i was more or less 1st of the boat and onto the A75 heading to Dumfries which is 75 miles - so im tootling along at 50 for a few miles looking for a nice petrol station to fuel up and get home. There was hundreds of trucks heading back n forth to the port on the A75 so i thought theres gunna be a services soon, after about 20 miles my petrol light comes on, i'm now holding the ferry traffic up coz i'm tootling along at 45mph praying for a garage, the road is absolutely pitch dark and i'm thinking if i cut out and lose power these cars & trucks are just gunna run into the back of me, so i saw a sign for a village called Crumtree with a fuel sign on the signpost. I turned into this village which must have had a population of 100 and you guessed it the stations shut - so i parked up inder a streetlight and rang the AA asking if they could tell me the nearest petrol station to me - which believe me was hard work, yes you guessed it the nearest one to me i was told was a 24hr Tesco in Dumfries - 45 miles away. I told em i couldn't get that far and that i would have to have a patrol bring me as much as they could as 4 litres was no good. At 23.30 a local garage rang me saying they had 20litre drum but did i know i had to pay for it lol...i'd have paid fooookin treble for it as it was -2c and i was freezing my tits off - anyway he was coming from Stranraer and would be here in 1 hour. Great!! So i sat frozen for 5 minutes when this lad walks bye, waves as though to say nice car etc...i wave back, then he turns around and walks across so i opened my door and he says Mr can i use your phone to phone my mum as he's 40miles from home and his mate and uncle wont let him sleep at theres. So i said he can use phone if he has petrol lol....he was only 16 it turned out and didn't look a threat so i said look i'm going nowhere get in car while AA come, after i'd sussed him out a bit i let him dial his mum which was turned off lol so we were both stranded. He was actually a decent enough lad altho he had been in trouble before etc he was quite open about himself etc, i felt like Jeremy Kyle lol but i gave him some frendly advice etc...as i worked with kids in care for 13 years too so had kinda heard similiar storys before - anyway the AA came at 0.30am, 20litres in for £20 lol off we went steady away, counting down the miles, staring at the fuel guage lol..i had to drop the lad off further down the A75 still about 8 miles from him home which i felt awful about but i was still 14mile from Dumfries too - i told the lad i would phone his mum today to check on him though - i finally got to Dumfries, saw theTesco lit up like the moon - Salvation I turned into the car park - shock horror - petrol closed midnight till 6am - arrrggghhh - i was absolutely gutted - i went in the store and asked a security man where the nearest garage was and he said about 1 mile in Dumfries lol and drew me a map to it, i finally managed to fill up with BP and it was like .1.30am now. I drove onto the A75 then M6 and M62 stopping 3 times for power naps as i was totally knackered - finally getting home at 5.15am today - turned my mobile off, unplugged my house phone - BED!! I justwoke up at 2pm lol absolutely massive headache still - i just hope this car wont let me down and is worth it lol - and if anyone has read this in the end thanks - and i just rang the boys mum who thanked me and passed the lad onto me for a wee chat lol - he got home at 2.30am so was lucky i guess, anyway thanks for reading, and heres a pic of the car, see yer at Donny on Sunday.

Yeah i sold my Evo 6 in April for good money, my circumstances changed a bit and this Evo 5 was a bargain i couldn't let go - it's well known car on MLR and has an Evo 6 engine & Box, autronics ecu with anti lag etc, blitz nur spec zaust, buddyclub alloys, supposed to be kicking up to 397bhp on switchable boost.

I just cannot believe theres a 75 mile stretch of A road to a busy port with no fuel available after 10pm, or not even a sign up saying last fuel stop etc...
