Default More PC help. Processes......

I have 50 processes running currently. Is this normal? Of course some are programs like Messenger etc etc, but how do I know I haven't got things running that shouldn't be? They all have silly names!!

50 here with a system that's running OK.

google the names and you'll find out what they are.

Did you plug your laptop in yet to see if your BB is OK?

Any in there I can get rid of? If I end them, is that it? Or do they start again next time I turn the PC on?

Seem to be an awful lot of svchost.exe in there!!

Best advice is to google them, most times the 1st result is the one to click on and it will tell you what it is and if its really needed.

And the only time a process will come back after a restart is if its a programme that has a "start up with windows" option, i.e windows live messenger, other processes you remove shouldnt come back

as a guide im on xp pro with live messenger running and firefox and your usual AV and firewall and im sat on 34

I could spend an hour ripping the amount of shit you got loaded but I ain't got time

Easiest thing to do is click on the mem usage tab twice so it displays them in highest used order and see what's eating your resources.
