Hi chaps, I was speaking to an old mate at a wedding on Friday night and we got talking about old times and a car this youth use to own that he'd like to know the where abouts of now.
This car was know in the Belper area (nr Derby)as a bit of a legend. He didn't know that much about it other than it was a Red Mk2 Xpack RS2000 with twin downdraught IDA's which he recked was all factory, the reg number was VVX22S. He's also said it was dyno'd a 202bhp which I thought was a bit on the high side for a modded pinto although I can remember doing 125mph in my Mini one evening on the way to Courbrough sprint course (which would have been in 1989) and this car came past me with five people in with my brother clocking him on his GPz900 at over 140mph,anyway as I'm a occasional member of this forum and my mate isn't into PC's I said I'd ask the question,so any info would be greatly appreciated.

i live in the beler area... and cant remember anythign like this about! although the fact i was born in 87 could have something to do with it... lol

 

Sorry for digging up an old thread but I was cruising the web looking for old cars that I owned at one time or another and this popped up.
I owned vvx in the eighties and lived in Belper.. The car was great fun back then but 202bhp it didnt have, I used to have it dynoed twice a year as it was a bu***r to keep in tune and it was good for 132bhp at the wheels (165-170bhp at flywheel).. I would never have had 5 in it either so perhaps that was someone else who owned it after me..
It was one mean car though.... Hope its still in one piece ..

 

I had yellow Mk11 1600(1987-89) sport and used to do circut in derby, did you ever to the circut as I am sure I never spotted your car

 

Not sure what you mean by 'circuit', I went to a few rs meets but mainly used to hang around with my mates who had a Lotus Sunbeam and a Chevette HSR..

Red X pack mk 2 RS2000 body kit fitted from new.
Fully kitted motor, 44 downdrafts, LSD etc. all fitted from new.

When I was a young boy racer it was the car 'round here (actually Heanor not Belper, bottom of Fletcher Street to be specific). He drove it how it should have been driven too.

I'm a year or three (school years) below the owner, but I know who he was. He had up for sale something like £4.5k (!!!!) back in the early 90's, a normal RS2000 then would have been maybe £3k, a decent Mexico £1800, a normal Escort...well you'd struggle to give one away. I sold a mk1 Mexico (DAF 577K) for £800 about a year after!
