Default anyone on here owned a Range rover?

I am comtemplating selling the Cossie, and the Golf TDI and buying a range rover Vouge and getting it LPG'd and use this everyday to comute to london and back (75ish miles a day). My budget for buying one would be about 7k so should get a niceish one for that, as i have been looking about, but what are the running costs of one? i have heard they have high running costs but they reveiws dont really go into detail as such, and finally are they a good motor? worth the cost or should i just buy something more sensible like a 5series lol

I used my bosses one years ago, to run his misses about all the time, was still bloody thirsty though did the equivalent of 18mpg on gas, not petrol used to get less than 10mpg on petrol.
Was running Tartarini tech system, ran perfect just gobbled loads.

I think the advice I got when I was considering one last year was "Don't bother".

Far too many horror stories and speaking to a couple of mechanics who work at the Land Rover dealer and our stable owner having a whole load of problems with her '06 Ranger Rover I wouldn't go near one unless I get those 6 numbers on the Lottery.

Shame as I think they're a really cool car

My Brother and my best m8 work with them and AFAIK they are just a pain in the ass!!

They have something like 13 ECU's to control all the gadgets and they are just a driving (or not as the case may be) bag of bollox!!!!

As above the blocks can be pourouse (sp)!

Lovely looking and lovely inside but not really worth the hassle....

I was speaking to a Range Rover specialist the other day and he said that LPG conversions ruin the engines!

i have one with a decent lpg conversion and it runs spot on, £30 of gas will do me about 160 miles of running round and 200 motorway miles. Blocks do crack on the 4.6, mine cost me about £3k to have done. Only 2 or 3 ecus, but the Body ecu is the size of a desktop pc and has been known to break. If you want to but a 4.6 get one where the the block has been repaired, or you WILL have to have it done yourself.

the latest shape is a very different animal to the shape gra wants, worlds apart imo

what you got to look at is the price brand new, it still has the running costs of a £50k car, a not so well made £50k car
