Default Video speed camera van avoidance

Are there any gadgets that can detect them?
Or do all these detectors just tell you about Gatsos (which I can spot quite happily) and not cunting vans which get you on big safe open fast roads from literally a mile away!

As you may have guessed, today's mail provoked this post

Wasn't sure if video vans were covered by your average radar/laser detectors.....

Now looking into all this nonsense

there is nothing on the market to actually detect the Talivans, but as said above there is GPS systems which will warn you of the sites they use.

the trouble is, you can never be sure when they are going to change their positions and start using new positions for the vans.

Ade,

I doubt that they are "video" camera vans, after all, how would a video show the speed of your car?

More likely to be a camera van with lazer speed detection equipment. These vans provide high quality "still images" with your speed, reg plate and other revelant info displayed on the picture.

A lazer detector would help you, it must be one with loud audible warning - e.g Valentine 1.........BUT it's often too late and the image and speed information is "captured" before you have a chance to slow down enough.

i've had Bel and Snooper Laser detectors, neither of which detected Talivans. they can only detect Gatso's and speedguns (and petrol station automatic doors, and mobile phone masts)

Though that was teh case with vans... no laser, just average distancing with video?
The NIP says they have video evidence.

Fucking 85 in a 70 though???!!! I was probably fucking chilling out eating my lunch if I was doing that speed
Pisses me off so much that doing 85 on a quality quiet dry dual carrigeway will take me up to 7 points....

Next trip up north that sounds like a good option!

Just makes me want to get out there with some stupid power, flip plates and a laser jammer and drive through as many as I can...... CUNTS!

i've noticed the amount of talivans in use has reduced alot though, and there was a recent article saying nationally the amount of speed traps has reduced by 14% this year, and in some counties has reduced by 50%. maybe the authorities are finally getting the message

they normally prosecute at 79mph and above in a 70 limit but some constabularies or scamera partnerships try their luck prosecuting between 70 and 79.

since i went onto 9 points i travel at 75-80 instead of 85-90 and i find i dont actually get their much slower, and i use alot less fuel!

for fuck sake dont go to wales then lol, mate was done doing 76 in a 70 (motorway)

3 points, £60

no front number plate, no trace...

they still get the speed etc, and as long as your car doesnt stand out, you should be ok lol

im not gonna run the plate on my 3dr, and took it off my 200sx - got pulled over 3 times in the sx tho, just got a 7 day wonder lol

with small plates, you get a £30 fine! no plate - mot stamp needed lol

Mental!!!
Bloody double standards.... I regularly overtake cops when doing low 80s on the motorways too

Was wondering what style of plates to use with my LHD MK3 Esc'....
Pressed plates with NL band or keep the motorcycle font sized rectangular one that's on it?
Now I know, just leave it at home

Wonder if the owner will be up for having a burning Gatso as the backdrop, 'cos I quite fancy that right now
