Stu's coilpack conversion - fantastic product (pic added)
What a wonderfully written set of instructions.
Took me about 5 hours today to do the conversion, thats including going and buying a soldering iron to solder the wires from the new board in with and also time to clear the tools away at the end etc.
Need to make a better bracket for mounting the coilpack as its just on a bit of metal off one of the strutbrace screws at the moment, but other than that, its totally finished.
I made a basic bracket for the ignition amps too as didnt want to pay for stu's cause im tight, he was happy to supply the kit without that bit though.
Sounds just SO much better on idle, the plugs that are in it were running very poorly on the old setup (they are a bit coked up still) but on the coilpack it purrs on idle now.
Very happy with it indeed.
Just need some decent weather now so I can go out and try the nitrous again as would be lighting the wheels up in fifth tonight I should think if I tried in the rain we are having here at the moment.

I have just got one of these off Stu aswell. Will be fitting it as soon as the cars up and running again.
Would also like to thank Stu for spending a good 20min on the phone to me trying to help sort the problem with my car. Gave me somethings to try and went through everything he could on the phone knowing he wasnt making anything out of it. Cheers Stu i owe you a few

Can't knock it can you? best thing is if you do get stuck, you know you will have back-up on the phone as well anyone who thinks a "group A" coil and dizzy is better must be well......special to say the least ahem....

RWD cossie wil,
No one think a group a coil and izzy is better, but if you are not having spark issue why change and spend a load of money that could be spent elsewhere.
Once could argue that the coilpack introduces another ignition amp to go wrong, so why not go aftermarket ecu where they run direct, and have shed loads more features, more than the wm can ever dream of ?

As above - although the effect is often exaggerated, there will be inductive coupling between leads, which, especially with a CD ignition, could result in misfires.

Never had a problem before running leads together so will see how it goes, can always move them a few mm apart if I need to, just done it like that initially cause it looks neat TBH

I dont have the relevant knowledge to discuss it im afraid mate, all I can say is that ive never had a problem, but that doesnt mean I rule out it being possible.

Just always liked the B&H sponsored 500's and always fancied one, so when the 500 shell on mine got written off and it was only ever going to be a "replica" anyway, I thought "fuck it, no reason not to have it any colour I want now" as it all had to be painted anyway.
This is the shell when I got it, so I certainly think it looks better now!

so did the leads come with the kit from stu, or are they sold seperatly?

Only got sat nav to record speeds with though, lol
Rod Tarry said if I can get a relatively accurate 1 mile time out of it on my local off road private test track (which handily has markers on the hard shoulder), he will cross reference it with his data for various cars and give me an indication of what it will do at brunters, could do with getting it up to somewhere like that for a proper go really though, mind you, standard brakes arent exactly good news, lol
