Pick up the leads bit by bit on the bay matey, there is usually a few on there, just keep looking....

Also,Snap On are launching the Scanners replacement on the 11th so there will be a load of older units traded in and plenty of bits available for a while if you keep your eyes and ears open...

No mate, but i think i`ve kept em in beer and holidays with the money i`ve spent on tools....

My Snap On guy is a proper Techy, and my mate works for Snap On/Sun as a technical sales manager so i get a lot of feedback on equipment etc....

well ive got it

its a version 2.2

its basicly only 1 lead, the dl16 lead with the bit to put the keys into which seems to work with a fair few motors, the menu seems to pretty much have all cars on it, although say fords when toggle year etc only gos up to 2002 others 2005 i think

so were do i go from here then bud whats best to buy next?

ive basicly got my eye on a bmw lead a merc lead and a pug lead

im presuming i should buy leads for the pre 1997 cars, i take it ill also need the new can1 bus lead for the new stuff. or will i have to get my pvci updated first?

theres a fair few keys on ebay so do i just buy every one i havent got? as ive found about 7 on there i dont have

Yeah mate, just buy anything you haven`t got leads wise and the keys too......

Your PVCI cartridge can be upgraded by Snap On but i think it`s about £800 for everything upto the present day......

Most of the later versions of the cars after 2002 will have similar management systems so you will find that the 2002 stuff will still read later vehicles too...

You can get hold of an old primary cartridge for buttons(Must be 1995 on though) then just buy the two Eproms of the bloke on E-Bay for £40 and you have a global 1995-2007 EOBD....

Oh and the scanner will tell you which key you need when you put the vehicle details in...

You lucky Bastard........they are nearly £170 with the vat..

I`ll have it if you dont want it..

EOBD is a comms protocol that all cars manufactured after 2000 use,all the new stuff from this year on will use Canbus...

Try giving a Snap On dealer a shout in your area mate and see if you can get hold of a manual......or have a mooch on e-bay,will make life easier with the later stuff if you know what the Canbus lead will work on..

Live data hold is just a screen grab so you can pull over and check all of the info.....

Just use the EOBD on yours if it has the full EOBD facility...

well to the top for this thread

just spent 60 quid on the autodata diagnostic trouble codes 2008 book

any advice on using it?

ok to me seems a bit of a waste as doesnt really go into probable causes etc too much, ok yes it lists all codes etc but the machine says what its refering too ie fault next to the code

have i just waisted 60 quid?

snapon man was trying to sell me a new solus with just a dl16 lead this morning for 1500 quid
