No idea about em, well not as much as the Evo onwers on here.

Gauges look like Boost, EGT, and Oil Temp tho.
Aftermarket Greddy ones.

The RS version of the Evos (IMO) are the best versions. This is because they don't have the AYC (which requires the short service intervals). Also the RS diffs are VERY strong and is what all the big power boys convert over to (at a cost of around £3k for the rear diff!).

The 7 is an aquired taste, but again (IMO), I think they look better than the 6.

The gauges are (top to bottom) Greddy oil temp, boost (with peak recall) and EGT (with peak recall). Very nice gauges .

Top one looks like oil temp
Second one looks like boost
bottom one looks like EGT

None of those are standard kit though on the RS as far as im aware.

Nice on chaps! Looks like I could be onto a winner then!

Tuning potentials are pretty much the same as any other turbocharged engined car but are there any specialists out there who are good for these?

But neither of you mentioned the peak recall facility on the gauges or answered the questions about the Evo .

You are limited by the conrods, 400bhp is pushing it frankly

I wouldnt really care less either way about gauges on the car when you get it as tehy are so easy to fit anyway.

So say a mild 350 bhp and it would be safe? The gauge question was just a small issue I was inquiring about, but who does the best tuning for these? (ooPs Chip has already answered!)

Gary and Christian at APT - 01603 870 990.

In fact Gary has a 2.3 AMS conversion on his Evo 7, that he has converted to RS gearbox / diff and it runs 600bhp on Motec. The car is awesome .

https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...226904&start=0

Mark at MAD is also VERY good.

It just depends who is closest .

350 is safe all day long mate yes

You need to be swapping those rods out to make the most of it though, its a chassis and suspension package begging for 450+ IMHO!

350 Will be absoultly fine, if that's your kind of figure in mind and you want no more in the future i'd have the car ECUTEK mapped, this will give you 350+ and similar torque. RC Developments do this package with a Fuel Pump/Plugs/ and one of there custom exhausts, i had this on my Tommi Mak, very good value.

If however you want to go forged etc, i'd look no further than Mark Shead (MA DEVELOPMENTS) He also carried out the work on my Evo when i had Autronic fitted and my cossie, one of the best tuners on both makes IMO..

Hope this helps...

Don't forget, if it's a genuine RS SPrint, it'll have 320 bhp standard..

The 7's are good, but they brought out the 8's soon after to rectify the few little faults the 7's had.

Also, when you have a 7 serviced - tell them to service it to evo 8+ spec, the suggested oil in the transfer case on the 7's is 80W90, yet for an 8 and beyond its 80W140 which has the added benefit of shock protection.

Tuning wise - 350 lb/ft is your safe ceiling for torque, don't worry about doing ARP rod bolts for that sort of power, it's bullshit - the standard ones are fine.

I know when i was at RC Developments we did our Ecutek package for £1760 - which was Apexi AVCR boost controller, Apexi Induction kit, HKS iridium plugs, Walbro in tank pump and a full RC 3" Stainless exhaust system and it honestly did transform the car...

If you can - save up and get an Evo 8 MR - they are in my opinion 'the one' - the cams have an extra 1mm of lift, the exhaust housing is bigger on the turbo and the bottom ends are strong to over 400 lb/ft.

If you are mega keen on this 7 - let me know and i'll come view it with you

Here is a nice Evo8 for sale, quite swift, decent spec for a 1st time owner, never raced or rallied, etc etc

Can i jump in please

The rs diff is the one that everybody buys for big power like Rainbum has said, i believe that they are a little lower specced cars (fewer creature comforts) not sure what though.

Gary at APT is very good with these so is Simon at Norris Designs,

I wanted Autronics so opted for Mark Shead who is very good with these, take a look around and different cars and see who has built what and acheived what with these things

The MLR have a thing called MLR Modified were you can compare different specs and cars and tuners they playing field is leveled somewhat because they only allow Dyno Dynamic results to be used.

Mike

Also i have been told and hopefully Will can clarify this that an Apexi Boost controller is not really needed with the right managment i know i certainly dont have one for mine but i dont know enough about this/these to say for sure

And as Steve has just posted that looks a great car hate to think what they want for it they should have left it the previous color as that pink is horrible IMO

Remeber, RS versions aren't bought for comfort, OR topend, they do what they say on the tin...

Mike,

No - you can run independant boost control within other management systems - most of them can control a solenoid...

However - the 'tried and tested' solution at RC was with an AVCR and we personally found it more reliable and easier to alter 'in car'

You can have a Ecu selected switched boost but why would you want to turn it down .

Has James had more done to his car recently then? When I saw him at Dono at the end of July he said it was probably over 400bhp at the fly..... he didn't know for sure.

Paul... you said at the wheels before, that's why I questioned you

Other than exhaust/decat and induction kit, I didn't think James has actually had any engine mods done to it yet, if he has it's only an EcuTek reflash. His car went very well at Dono though
