Default F1 Kit car........?

I want to build a kit car in the style of an F1 car if such a thing exists.

Anyone know of any sites or kits available?

Im obviously thinking of using a big bike engine to get a 'similar' effect and sound.

Any info appreciated.

I've read in the past about F1 esque cars on the road, but never seen one...

Is the Ariel Atom a kit car? or do you buy them pre built?

People will be driving hover cars before I get it finished though

projects stalled again as I am about to rip the roof off my latest house ready for a ground up re-develop.

heres a link to the resto thread I started a while ago

You would probably be better off buying an old F3 or F3000 roller and getting it road legal as those F1 type road cars like atoms etc are big bucks

You can pick up a rolling late 80s F3000 for around 10k - they are basically a small volume F1 car and well engineered. Its the same principal as making a trials bike or quad road legal

Gareth I keep seeing that blue soft top merc around Penarth with a couple of tasty women in it - I dont think they were too impressed with my diesel focus estate though when I pulled up alongside with a load of timber in it

www.closeratio.com

www.racecarwarehouse.co.uk

www.motorsportads.co.uk

www.race-cars.com

usually a selection on them

other cheap buys are ex Indy cars - some sub 10k late 90s ones around

there is one thats been made road legal in the states

it was originally designed as a hayabusa engine 4wd car but they later began using a small V8 engine comprising of hayabusa cylinder heads and a custom block if i remember correctly

now that looks like a bit of fun - proper 4 wheel motorbike, but again wont be a cheap as converting an existing race car - I would say the engine alone would be 10k then 4wd running gear and chassis - you would be looking at 25 to 30k finished

As opposed to an indy car for 10k which will take a normal yank v8 at say 3k and 2k to convert to the road so 15k all in or similar money for a f3000 and a YB or road v8
