My mates st24 had a power run and it was running 118bhp instead of 170bhp.
They said it could be a blocked cat converter anyone heard of this problem before.

 

Quite common with old Fords.

 

very very common on mondeo v6's as they have 3 cats, 2 in the manifolds and one in the main exhaust, the cats in the manifold break up blocking the 3rd cat!!

seen it loads of times..
infact my own v6 is starting to block up again at the moment!!

how can you tell which cats it is?

 

are you sure the secondries are opening up properly ???

prob gummed with carbon bigtime

 

i think even with the secondaries not opening they give more power than that dont they?

deffo sounds like a cat block. not really an easy way to tell which without removing em n looking tho.

 

just disconnect the exhaust before the rear cat, hang it up out the way then drive the car , it's noisey but should be faster, easy way of checking the cat..
