Default Anybody know anything about Peugeot's Mi16 engine?

Well, i bought a 205 at the weekend with an Mi in, the headgasket had gone and it needed a few other things sorting so i decided to pull it out and do the conversion properly.

Now, upon removing it and having a look, theres a bodged up hole in the side of the block where some muppet has forgotten to fit the head spacer on the bolt before tightening up and as a result has punched a lovely hole through the block into the water pump section. Its been filled with a little metal plate and some instant metal..

My question is this (its the all alloy unit by the way XU9J4), is the block the same as the 8v 1905's as fitted to the majority of the Peugeot range? Could i use my crank, rods, pistons and liners?

Can it be welded? Do i bother to get it repaired or find another block?

Answers on a postcard...

just get another block

only minor differerances from what i make out..

no piston spray bars in the 8v block. dipstick on the front of mi16 instead of the rear on 8v.

think the cranks are the same.

get an mi block for 50quid though mate.
