From what i can gether it was only the very first mk3 shells that had the 2 bolt suspension, meaning i would be very dubious as to the origionality of that car.......

Something is a miss there. Only the very very early Mk3 Escorts had that type of front suspension fixing. Something doesn't add up at all.

No mate 2 bolts top mounts ended in 05/83 and superceded after that.

No chance of any S1 have a 2 bolt shell even the later RS1600i never had a 2 bolt shell.

My Reply:

(Nicked abit off you there Tony! )

Hi there, the 2 bolts top mounts ended in 05/83 and superceded after that. This is not a Series 1 shell.
I have koni adjustables on my Series 1 and I still have the correct single nut strut tops.
See if he replies now!

i am selling for friend, no-one is saying its 100% original, but the documentation supports the chassis no, engine no and registration no

i do not re-call saying it was any series, bit too technical for me

what difference does it make? its a nice car which runs very good and in in excellent condition does it matter if there is one bolt or two?

Personally I thought it was abit odd that he offeres up all id numbers??? almost overkill on the it's genuine

poor cant, best bet is to break the thing as it looks clean, should be plenty to sell.

Just though, isn't there a tiebar or something underneath at the back that is only on the S1??

Maybe the front end has been rebuild, and the builder didn't use the correct panels, or that was all he could get, the guy should properly check the floor pans to see what is what, maybe less dodgy than it looks

Matt, it's not an S1, simple. the i.d is S1, the shell isn't. which sadly means it's a ringer.
