£500 is not enouth, up to date snap on scanner with all personality keys will cost you at least a grand second hand, personally I dont rate them as they dont do a lot of the jap or korean stuff,

I used to be in the design and development business for two of the
leading code readers in the country for well over 10 years.
Infact I still do some contract software writing for them.
As used by Ford, RAC and AA etc...
Depends what you want to do with it...
What cars, what systems (ABS/ECU/AIRBAG/KEY PROGRAMMING etc..)
I "may" be able to put you on to someone that can give you what you
ever you need for the right price.

yer 1k cash i got it for its the diga consult, basicly dashfixer www.dashfixer.co.uk if you notice his price is £5500 for the kit 2 i got a jap clone for 1k, let me tell you its every bit as good, no difference whatsoever to the real one, cables are all good too, its updateable and can correct cars up to 2007. a hell of a lot of models covered im v impressed what a saving too
the only think you dont get is dashfixers support as you can call them with problems etc, personally id rather pocket £4500 and have the japcrap
yes ok there are a lot of people i will be doing who are clocking cars, but end of day when phone rings i will say i dont clock cars only correct incorrect mileages, end of day if they tell me its wrong and i sort it for them there the one thats lying not me, and technicly its only illeagal once they try to sell it and missrepresent the miles.
i might even get a disclaimer form for them to sign
if you want i can give you the details of the guy hes near bristol i know hes still got a couple left too but if your near southampton bugger off as competition and all that lol
im charging £50 for a straight diagnostic (takes 4 mins) £75 for a cluster correction (have to plug onto the chip) and £100 for a solder jobbie, dont think ill bother with some cars though as saab etc you have to completely remove the eeprom from the board and write it, im not confident enough for that yet
