your learning the rest of your life. as in any trade (im a joiner) its not difficult if your good with your hands and take time but its all in the quality of the finish thats gives you away and thats learned through years of experience .most apprenticeships are 3 or 4 years nowadays but as your to old to have any luck being taken on as an apprentice your options would be a course at college either paid for by yourself or if you are unemployed the government might put you through a training scheme.
its never to late to learn something new if your not happy.

Call up local firms and see if you can get a job as a plasters mate, you will soon pick up what’s going on then ask the plasterer you work with to teach you. Its not rocket science my friends dad owns a plastering company in surrey and I used to help out knocking up muck etc and you will soon pick it up. Watch out some of them are rough as assholes!

lots claim to be good plasterers, but like on my last job ,he was good when he started, but his standards went down and down.they like to talk a good job,and go home early.when it came to decorating the place i found all the bumps ridges and f-ups he done. plasterings not as easy as it looks, and finding someone to knock up for is a good way in .im a chippy by trade too
