My stereo keeps falling out when I go over a big bump
It's in a Mk6 Escort using one of those adaptors.
This came with it

is that why its falling out or is it cos the adaptor is crap?
I couldn't see where to fit it....

Is it one of those double din autoleads adapters, and the whole fucking thing falls out?
Every ford ive owned with one has done the same, its usually the clips on the side that fail or bend..... just total shit.

Those autoleads pannels are fine if you fit the support bracket.
Otherwise all the weight is held by the two tiny clips on each side.

I've fitted loads and loads of those facias (at work) and never yet worked out what the piece you pictured is for, but it does fit in the bin quite nicely.
The important bit is that A shaped bracket that gets bolted to the back of the unit, and fits onto a guide which is part of the dash. This takes all the weight of the stereo away from those little clips.
I dont think it's possible to use the one off the original ford stereo directly because they are clipped in. You could probably cut the clip off, and drill a hole to mount it to the new stereo.
Hope that helps.
Oh by the way, I usually fit the new stereo mounting sleeve into the facia pannel, then slide the stereo into the sleve, then bolt the A hanger to the stereo. Then fit the A onto the slider and push the whole thing into the slot.
Its not always obvious what order to do it all in!
