might sound like a daft question, but on the amplifiers I've had, they have had 4 places to connect the cable for the sub.
two just normal + and -, and then the "bridged" + and -
what is the purpose of the bridged connectors? Which two should I be using?
Am I meant to use the bridged ones if I'm powering just the one sub, then all 4 if I want to use two?
Cheers

Bridging the 2 channels would produce a higher output than using each channel seperately! So if the amps 100watts per channel, bridged would be 200watts........
If your only using 1 sub then bridge the 2 channels!
Thats my understanding of it! Also should state on where the connections are which ones are required to form the bridge!!

You CAN'T use two SUBS, as this will overload it big time.
The purpose is that you can connect your left right FULL RANGE speakers as normal + and -, left /right.
The IF you add a SUB you use the BRIDGE connections ie - for the sub will be from one side, the + will be from the other side.
You do NOT have to use a pair of normal speakers you could JUST power the sub on it's own.
SUBS are very low impedance and it will blow the amp if you put one on each side OR two bridges.
Just one bridge, OR two normal speakers, or both together but NO MORE.

cool, cheers tabetha.
I've never understood how you can use the amp to power normal speakers though, because any speaker i've ever had, even if it's been using powerful 6x9's, the headunit itself seems to be too powerful, and the speakers go fuzzy or start making that farting noise.
What advantage will using my amp to add even more power to speakers give me? Will it not just make them fart sooner than they would without the amp?

thought it was as redeye said but i aint that hot on this stuff!!so i have got a jbl amp that is just to run bass speakers i am running two subs it is a 2 channel amp but i just wired each one to - and+ on each channel for each speaker?so say set up of my amp is as follows
+ - + -
1 2 3 4
should i wire one sub to number 1 and number 4 and the other sub to number 2 and 3?? currntly wired one sub to 1 and 2 one sub to 3 and 4??

Look at the 4-Channel Amplifier Configurations section
