Hi guys, i'm in need of some help, been out in the Escort today for a bit blast, was giving it a little bit and braking quite hard, when the red dash light came on ( the one what normally comes on when you apply the the hand brake) everything was still working ok though, after about another 10 mins i went to brake and the brakes were rock hard and NOT working, pedal never went to the floor or anything, just rock hard, you have got to push as hard as possible to make the car just stop. left the car to cool down as it was a little bit warm and tried it later, it was still the same then after two mins light went off and brakes were working as normal, then after a bit light came back on but brakes still ok and then as i pulled up at my door the brakes went back to not working! so i was wondering has anyone had any similar probs or any ideas what it could be? There is no leaking fluid or anything and all looks ok, but im no mechanic and dont know that much on that side of things to be honest, any help is much much appreciated, Thanks Mark

 

do you run a heatshield?

sounds like the pump has failed mate and needs replacing or the wiring is melted somewhere

 

Hi mate, no head shield as is off at the mo! the wiring was my initial thought mate as it was lets say warm and i couldnt touch the conections on the pump.

 

Do not drive without the heat shield, you'll melt something and at worst start a fire !

 

Any more idea's what it could be anyone please? Mark
