The E46 M3 was/is a superb car, the only problem was that BMW made too many of them.

Just check out somewhere like pistonheads and there's around two hundred for sale at anytime.

The price and limited numbers available might just keep this M3 a collectable car in the future.

Now the new M5 is starting to come on the second hand market at around the 45k mark, it would be a big decision to buy a new M3 for 50k, when you can get a 1 year old M5 for less money.

Decisions Decisions........Either one is a great car though.

But I would say that......

When I first saw the pics I wasn't really a fan of it. But after seeing one in white...

Love it

E30 M3 = 17K units (worldwide)
E36 M3 = 71K
E46 M3 = 83K

Of course you could always have the V10 from the 5 in the 3.

As said above it just doesnt look aggresive enough y know.
Knew I would be right about the 46 though

It's only a bit of friendly banter. Don't take it the wrong way.

As I've said in several posts on this thread I've said I'm sure it will be a stormer.

End of the day I'm an Audi fan so will be biased that way even if the BMW was the better car (which I'm not sure it is in this case).

My girlfriends Dad had a new M3 ordered up for Sept for her Mum, and she didn't end up wanting it... so he got a 335 cabriolet. Spent £58k on it, don't ask me how :gayflag:

Yeah, but in comparative terms it's like spending £15k on a concours, bonkers spec Fiesta RS Turbo with all the toys, rather than spending £15k on a clean, sweet, standard RS500! I'd rather have the RS500!

Hardly Ben... the 335 is a superb car!!!! £58k is alot (don't know HOW they did that!?!?!?!?) with the new M3 out soon but its a great car the 335 droptop in the real world. Some people reckon the 335 is a better road engine than the new M3's... Certainly going to be easier to tune... not that they sound like they are the type though

DIESEL???

In an offroader maybe.....

I REALLY can't see why anyone would choose a diesel over the petrol in a sexy coupe???

WHY??????????????????????????????????????????????? ??

Maybe a great engine... but it sounds wank doesn't rev and is NOT as good as the amazing 335i

And what will you save a year on fuel... £500 maybe??? whoop de foooooooooooking do!

residuals Will hold a better ''value'' 2nd hand to the 335i Top diesel 3 series also
the petrol will be knocked down by m3

45mpg and only a second slower to the ton stock cars

easier to tune, only birds as far as i know have cracked the 35i ECU and they want major money

335d is simple to re-map and once mapped will have 530 ib ft

i personally would have originally chose the petrol.. but having driven it i wouldnt go back now!!

also many e46 m3 owners have converted to the 335d and said it was a good move, and most have been re-mapped
diesel is the future HAHA

and dervs did win le-mans many years running

More like why wouldn’t you buy a diesel? They are faster, quieter, return more MPG and have better residuals than their petrol counterparts, at least thats the case with new BMW’s.

drive a 335d and you will think the way you currently are TEN times over, you would never believe it till you drive it

Do you think I would say this if I have not driven one?

Was trying to get my ex missus to dump her X5 3.0D for a 4.8i for a Cayenne Turbo and she was like oooh nooo... the fuel costs!!!!

I showed her EXACTLY how much she would save... she was SHOCKED!!!

she thought it was thousands and thousands a year

THATS the major reason residuals are higher.... DUMB ASS CUNTS who think that they are saving a FORTUNE driving a Diesel... your not at all unless you do intergalatic mileage.

Thats GREAT though... means you can get proper cars like X5 4.8is and Cayenne Turbos alot cheaper second hand because stooooopid people think the diesel will save them millions and so ignore the petrol ones

Modern diesels are lovely to drive, great low down torque, quiet in the car BUT soooo unsporty!!!!! You can't drop the windows or roof and here the engine make sexy noises!!! LESS FUN AND LESS ENJOYMENT!!! Can you imagine a Ferrari diesel??? nope....

THATS why I wouldn't want one in my beautiful SPORTS coupe!!!!

SO your arguments mean NOTHING to me!!!

faster?? NOPE
better MPG???.... wooohoo £500 extra a year!!!
Quieter?? NOPE
Better residuals??? means I get the bargain or a year old one. Thanks
