Anyone from Stoke -on- Trent?
Im going on the Michelin Tyre training course on the 25 -27 Sept at the Michelin Training Centre in Stoke (ST4 Postcode)
Were is the best place to stay?
Any places / hotels to really avoid?
Whats the nightlife like in Stoke?

Hi saphlover,
stay at the holiday inn at clayton as said, its near the M6 J15 and 5 mins from Michelin, great in Newcastle for a drink and food, forget Hanley, its rough, also lock up your car for all the normal reasons.

My Boss said when he went he went into the town centre in the middle of the day (during school term time) and there was about 20 young lads in hoodies all stood around and a tramp asleep on the bench clutching a bottle of vodka

Stoke suffers from Chinese whispers a bit Steve, I wouldn't believe anything that comes out the place.
For example in my old town a polish student had to flee home because the pitch fork wielding locals mistook her for Rosemary West (genuinely true story).

the holiday inn express by the britania stadium is virtually across the road from the mitch so would be a good choice its Ł66 a night,the moathouse on festival park is cool but not cheap.
hanley and newcastle are both decent nights out,hanley probably being the bit rougher of the two but aint as bad as some folks make out theres a lot of cameras about now and police usually respond to assaults fairly rapido

the best thing about the place apart from stoke city, is the oatcakes
they are a kind of rolled up thing you put sausages cheese and bacon
in, they have shops dedicated to selling just them

To be fair, there are parts that ain't actually that bad, it has it's bad parts like most cities, it's certainly no Moss Side or some of the dumps in London I've seen!

Holiday inn express at trentham lakes is good, you can always go and see sapph1 @ bristolstreetford. Festival park is nuts on a sunday night a lad who i worked with couple of years ago @ stafford went up in is sleeper mark 4 escort van (400bhp cossie engine with 100 shot of nitrous) Lets say it was sideways all the way and alot of heads turning. If you want a good night out go to newcastle if you want to get knifed go hanley.

I'd agree, stay away from Hanley, full of knobheads, Newcastle is a much nicer place for a night out.

Never found Hanley to be too bad if I'm honest, although maybe I'm use to the riff raff as I'm from Liverpool
