Hello,
I'm looking for a road tyre with good grip.
Ideally i wanted R888. But they have only got soft in stock.
The guy recommended these, any1 used them? What do you think?

There for a Starlet turbo, (reasonably high powered fwd)
The medium R888 tyre is what i believe most people go for.
But this isn't in stock and they wont be very good in wet weather.
The soft R888 i was adviced is really for hillclimbs etc and wears very quickly.
This is for road and the odd track/strip.

You cant have both
I would say you could get a better tyre than the Hankook but it will cost you more. Whats the budget ?

As long a life as possible. 2-3k miles maybe.
Be driveable in the wet.
Not really thought about budget to be honest. But as a ball park the R888s are 66 each. So if its a long way from this figure we might as well wait for the mediums in the R888s, but they don't know how long there going to be

Worth looking at these

575's are soft 578's are medium
Have come a long way lately and are classed as a production tyre for many race series now
Price will be slightly higher than the R888's but performance will be better too

Are they road legal? Guessing they are? How deep is the tread, the robbers at toyo only give you about 4-5mm standard.
They do look very good.
I'l give them a call on monday. Where did you purchase them from? (if you have) How good/bad in wet are they, they look like they'l be shocking!

They are E marked yes. But I'd personally only use them on days where you are doing an event to make them last longer.
Tread depth on a new tyre is between 5 - 7 mm
Being a true competition tyre compound they may perform better in the wet than others which are similar and are just road tyre based.
They will warm up quicker due to the competition compound rubber, but having stiffer sidewalls means you can run them with less pressure on the strip to gain better traction, or pump them up to normal and lean on them harder in the long corners on track.
But as Lee says plenty of the other traders on here (Martin, Christian etc) may have stocks of the 888's
