Default update (gone to greys)

Took my car to torque of the devil a few weeks back and it made 295bhp with 320ftlb of torque with this set up, standard comp, greens, 3 bar, unknown chip, big cooler, t35 with .63, scorpion exhaust and group a filter, 22psi but the thing im asking about is what psi boost should i run the fueling was fine really rich top end but probably due to boost dropping off as the actuator was bolloxed it was opening at 5psi and they said it should of been 14psi so ive brought a new -34 and fitted that and also i read to remove the little white jet out of the amal valve on the atmosphere pipe to allow more boost, so what should i set it at psi wise ?

If that's all it made with 22psi, it would most likely benefit greatly from being mapped properly.
I made 288@14.9psi on yellows.

if you cant run much more boost depending on what your chip allows then i would suggest another chip which would do alot better job, Msd is your best bet as ive found there software is proberly the best ive worked with

like i say i havnt got a clue what chip it is but one thing i do know is once i had fitted the new actuator and removed the little jet it boosts to much like 30psi and the chip cut the ignition so i have removed some of the pre load off the actuator rod but im now still seeing 28, was going to lower it even more but it just pissed down with rain

With one of Stu's chips from Butch, fitted and setup should see a sensible 320-350 bhp.

Good luck mate.

Keep us posted

alright people, i have now upgraded to greys, i have one issue and it is that when im in 1st and 2nd gear and give it some it boosts and goes like hell but at the top end of the rev range it misses and drops power but i have noticed that the boost is still holding at 30 psi so i think i have to much pre load on the actuator holding to much boost in, also it did this when i had my greens etc in until i shut the plug gap up to 25 thou then it went away so maybe to much boost at high revs and shit plugs could cause this ?

But you might kill it trying to sort it.

Just turn the boost down and don't boot it about, let Karl sort it for you.

this is what i thought amal valve is fine but boost is high when at high revs so i shall turn it down and as for plugs what is reccomended, as said above on my green set up it was blowing the spark out until i closed the gap so what plugs and gap for greys

Gap the CORRECT spec plugs to around 0.6mm. If you need less you have ignition gremlins to sort as well, but go lower until you can sort them.

Thing is though, without your fuel checking out you dont know if your missfire is the only thing stopping your engine melting on boost, so take it easy until you get it sorted at Karl and Ollies.

Hello coswurv,

Who's chip do you have in your car? i.e. who's car did I originally map that your chip has come out of?

I keep a record of everyone's car so I will be able to look back at my records and tell you exactly what spec and setup the car was running when mapped originally.

Hope that helps,

I would sort out your pump wiring first

You need at least 13v at the pump on tickover.
