XR3i 130 Question
Does anyone know what bits are req'd to change a 105 bhp XR3i to the 130? I've got the possibility of taking some bits off a mates car but ain't sure what I need? He reckons just throttle body and ecu, is he right?

I mistakenly thought they were from an RS2000 (Escort site.... 2L...), but still wouldn't think they'd be suitable unless you know they're the same spec' as the 130 3i versions (which I doubt) - else you'll end up with a mis-match of parts, or worse.

first off what year 105 and does it run edis or not does it have pats.. the 2.0 silvertop zetec cam profile is almost identical to the 130PS 1.8 zetec profile, the MAF is differently calibrated, the trottle body is larger, the injectors are different although the flow rate is beileved the same, the injector plate between head and inlet has much larger ports, and the High Put put inlet manifold flows better (stamped HO) the heads are the same as are the blocks, although the 130ps one has under piston oil jets fitted (provison is made for these in the standard zetec blocks) they can be fitted with the sump off with engine in the car. the 2.0 maf is calibrated differently and gains would be conincidental, the 130ecu's "2FCB" or is it 2FCD - i can't remeber are non pats external EDIS ( black motorcraft ignition module fitted to bracket on passenger inner wing next to airbox) these ecu's can be fitted to early 105 cars, later internal edis (ignition controlled by ecu) 105 cars can have the ecu swapped to a CULT (i believe) ecu from a late fiesta RS1800 or one from an early mk6 si 10 cabriolet, most if not all true 130 XR's were actually the mk5a floor pan with the mk5b/6 rear end welded on, this is signified often by the presence of the mk5a seats which have different adjusters (side handles on remote pole operation rather than dierect handles mounted on the front of the seat bases) these cars also tend to have the ealier wiring looms and the ealier steering columnns / assemblys.

yes phil, and they will only correctly run a 2.0 engine with 2.0 injectors maf etc etc they are also internal edis external pats, the ones your thinking of are DESK DEWY and DEEP, TELL TAXI etc etc are 2.0 auto ecus and are no use as they are mapped to ake account of the auto box and kickdown etc

ok it will probably be on a BEAU or other external pats internal edis ecu, you can fit the cams and throttle body, but the differently calibrated mafs will give the wrong signals to your ecu, unless you want to do some rewiring of your ecu to fit an edis module or replace the engine side of the loom your best bet is to leave the ecu and maf unless you can obtain them from a late si cabriolet or a late RS1800 ecu.
