Focus RS but only because the cost of ownership on the EVo scares teh crap out of me.
Saying that I'm considering an Evo 3 when my A4 is up for replacement

i think the only downside to the evo is service costs thats what pete staffi off here was telling me when he had his apart from that couldnt fault it
regarding the focus rs arent you put off by them all being the same shade if they had made black ones i reckon i would buy one myself love the car not the shade

im sure the evo would be much more fun but as above servicing and running them deffo aint cheap.and they do still break when driven hard like any car.
im sure it was evo mag that said they were same running costs as a ferrari

running costs on the FRS are peanuts compared to evo, had mine three years and its only needed discs n pads all round, tyres and servicing which is cheap as chips. Evo in the same time would have cost thousands more. Depends if you can afford it tbh, i probably could but would rather not!

ive had both and if i had to chose one to put on my drive now it would be the focus.the evo was a bit more ferocious, but as a daily driver to be used hard when required its the focus.
i took the focus to the nurburgring and really enjoyed it.but went round in my mates evo6 mak and that was quicker,or it felt it anyway.
they both have their good and bad points.i never really fancied a focus because of the colour thing but was very surprised when i got one.

on my evo 5 i a 1500 moding it but made most off that back as i put it all back to standerd when i sold it and sold it for more than what i picked it up for
on my evo 6 have have spent a few k on it as i pushed the rods to far and it let go big time so i did the 2.3 stoker kit

well i do most off the work my self on my car but a lot off owners just take them to garages to have work done and some off the prices they pay shock me
about the only things i dont do are the mot and maping
once you start work on an evo its just like any other car
just that every 1 thinks they are hard to work on which is not the case
john
ps oil and filter is about the same price as my old cossi 4x4

may be some people dont feel safe working on there own brakes etc
with evos it isnt just running costs of fuel, servicing
when you start adding things like a new set of brake discs and pads all round at prob Ł600,clutches at near Ł1000
yes you can get cheap shit bits the same as any car but they wont last and certianly not if you in to driving car like it was designed for
dont get me wrong i love my evo and wouldnt change it for world but its a pricey car to run standard let alone 600bhp....

Thanks i suppose i some ways just a modern day cossie in a sense, really dont want all the hassle tbh, want somethin i can leave the other half to drive without worrying to muchif it will break etc, and to be fair think the focus seems a safer bet, question is though is there any decent focus rs`s out there for 11k-12k
And something a bit more comftorable i can take out on a saturday etc

When you realy look at it a 400+Hp Evo cost less to run than a 400hp Escort
A 500hp Evo cost less to run than a 500hp Escort,
A 600hp Evo cost a hell of a lot less than a 600hp Escort,
Take a Look at a 300hp plus Escort verses a 300hp Evo that only thing I can think of is the clutchs the Evo does cost more,
Brakes most upgrade to Ap's whether its a Cossie or a Evo,
Servicing so a Evo has 4.5k service intervals and the only extra over a cossie is a Ł50 diff oil change, How many Cossie owners change there oil at 3k any way,
I look after many of both and realy there is no real diff in cost between them.

Modding to decent power of 340-350bhp is much cheaper as well with very few mods to do it. MPG I found is much better than my cossie ever was as well.
All these Chinese whispers about Evo running costs is pure fallacy.

ap brakes is one thing but looking at costs to replace just standard bits are loads more for a evo than a frst
tuned cars are always going to cost more and but some tuning costs are always going to be similar
evo tuning looks to be coming down as buying from USA is so cheap

I agree Mark, but what people need to remember is, Evos already come in 300-320-340-360 bla bla anyway out the box, cossies NEVER did...
So just to get to 360 on a cossie is stage3 money from the off.......

the only thing i dont do on my evo is the ayc fluid and if it wants a clutch coss it looks a cunt to do but everything else is pretty much easy peasy.
just had the gearbox and diff oils and ayc oil done at my local mitsubishi dealer and it came to 68.95 all in.

how much would your company cost to uprate a standard evo6 gsr to arround 350bhp and what is fitted to the car. thanks

Evorich, you can have an ECUTEK remap to give you 350, you'll need a Fuel Pump, and exhaust, i had my Mak done with Ecutek before the Autronic, it made 356 bhp 348 torque..@ 1.5 bar
Good service price that by the way for main dealer...

The dentist is VERY good, Mark is fantastic on Evos aswell but he's mainly Autronic mate... Also try RC DEVELOPMENTS they were the ones that did mine.... then Mark did the Autronic for me..

im not byist as i love both rs,s and evo,s but struggle to put a focus rs up in the same class as a evo, iv drove my mates focus rs and for me it just dident feel anything Special iv had a s2 for over 10 years and loved it, but a front wheel drive focus against a 4wd ayc evo ? every time i step in my 1995 e3 it brings a massive smile to my face abit like my old s2 did but the difference is the evo scores 10 out of 10 on just about everything and the myth about evo,s costing silly amounts of money for serviseing ? ive pointed out b4 how cheap you can buy oem bits from camskill and how easy the 4g63 engine is to work on , but i still do love rs,s and if i had the money would hands down buy a mint escort cossy for the garage and sunday runs and have a evo 6 as a daily runner and forget about the focus

Evo is the better car - in terms of handling, power etc.
Focus is lovely to drive. Feels very nice and not underpowered.
No idea why they say they don't handle either, sat behind a mates evo 6 TME everywhere he went with more power and on semi's. Granted the brakes were smoking afterwards but..
Both are good cars, i'd have the Evo if I had the option but I don't.
