Have used the netgear software before myself and I prefered it to the windows one.

It was last night but today I loaded up the laptot and I have had to right click "Repair" on the computer icon with the red cross next to it as the wreless didnt work again 
working ok now Ive done that but cant keep doing this as it only allows me to Repair so many times

How far away from teh router are you going with the laptop ?
And how thick are the walls in your house ?
