sell it and buy an st170. To change you 1.4 to st170 you will also need brakes, suspension, full exhaust system, engine bay and interior loom change, not to mention it would cost more to insure than a standard st170.

plus, st170 focuses are fookin cheap these days!

It used to be on the old system, but you could get away with murder. Ive put a 1.25 fiesta through with a 1.7 lump a few years back

yes it would pass an mot. But if you were to be involved in an accident etc the car is UNINSURED, so your in trouble!!

Just save a couple of months when you can afford it.

How can you not afford the insurance on an ST when you have an RS?

Also if something happens and youve got an ST engine in a vehicle insured as a 1.4 your insurance will become void

Don't drive around with a 2.0 engine in your car on 1.4 insurance

Think of others on the road, Not just you...

Anybody else getting thoughts of young male driver and Focus sized hole in the local scenery.

Sorry fella but if you can't afford to insure the car you can't have it. You'll just have to wait and abide by the rules like everybody else

Theres a reason insurance is high for young drivers who want to drive a high powered car. Chances are, they will end up stacking it. I'm asuming it was your fault as you say you lost your ncb.

I can't see how you wouldnt be able to buy and insure (and have money left over) a focus st170 from the payout on the RS?

My guess, and I await to be corrected if I'm wrong, is the FRS was insured TPFT rather than fully comp to save a few quid

Don't do it - it's a pain in the tits conversion AND it'll be significantly cheaper to sell up and buy a 2.0 litre AND insure it.

Plus there's no issues of you doing something extremely selfish, illegal and stupid!!!

If you can't afford the insurance on a 2.0 litre then live with it

I agree witrh the comments above. Its is not only illegal to insure a car when knowingly not delaring all the facts bout it including modifications but it is also irresponsilbe.

Imagine what would happen if you knocked a child over and he/she was seriously injured. The parents take you to court and are awarded a million pounds in damages (not unheard of to cover medical care etc) you would have to pay this as the insurance is void. CAN YOU AFFORD TO DO THAT.

No becuase you cant afford the money to insure th car properly in the first place.

It is because of muppets like you that decent people have to pay through the nose to drive and insure a nice motor.

It would proberly end up like the RS anyway.

A bit like V6 EDC's ST200 that went through a hedge and into a playing field. Was then damaged driving through the concrete bollards to get away before the police got there.

IF YOU CANT AFFORD THE INSURANCE THEN DONT DRIVE THE BLOODY CAR

I thought you could only go TPFT on cars below a certain value?

I may be wrong, but i'm sure i've seen that before on certain insurers applications

This being the case the insurance shouldn't be too bad on the replacement but your comments to bookwyse do nothing to help your case as he's absolutely right

it is a lot higher than it was before as i have lost three yeras ncb! the only reason i said that to bookwise is because i started this thread to find out things like this that all might not know!

And for him to say QUOTE It is because of muppets like you that decent people have to pay through the nose to drive and insure a nice motor.

It would proberly end up like the RS anyway.

when he dosnet know the circumstances and it wasnt a driver error as i have said above! too many people just think young lad fast car when he dosnet know the circumstances (ived been on track days, gift days and driver high speed courses prob a better driver then most)

I thought you only lost 2 years NCB in the event of a claim? I've never had an own fault prang so don't know

You can't really expect much if any sympathy when your asking people to condone and even assist you in breaking the law.

You can't afford to insure the car then I'm afraid you can't have it. Deal with it fella like the rest of us have to.

the passenger carnt have a kill button if there is no passenger! and maybe be cocker, but as i said above the accident didnt happen at speed or on a bend, it was on a stright stretch of motorway doin 70mph and the car aquaplaned which not even the best driver in the world could controll as you not incontroll of the car!
