Top spec immobilser would expect your every day car theif lurking at 2am not to be able to bypass not that easy if im honest as my friend installs them and auto-electrician by trade ?
Really gutted mate i would do time if i found somone had took my pride and joy not really the same comparison but i had a 2k mountain bike at 16yrs old 3 weeks and someone came in to my friends kitchen with us upstairs and 4 decent mountain bikes all Ł700+ my the most expensive underneath all of them they took mine
thought my mates had hid it winding me up ? sick was not in it but the best thing was the little kids playing on the street seen who took it and it was a cheecky smack rat from over the road !!!
Went straight round to his pad and i would rather not say what happened after that on a public internet forum but lets say it was the worst thing he could of done to me never got it back though he already sold it for Ł70
Pal what im trying to say is why would someone go to the extent to rob a rs turbo no disrepect my all time favourite car but to bypass a cat 1 immobilser they either knew your car or knew you as like you said there was a cossie next to yours and if they can bypass cat 1 then why not take the cossie????????
Just to let people know when my friend had his astra gte took from him at gun point and log book signed over off lads we knew of (Bad lads) many years ago 1997.They sold it on too lads not too far away and we had the spare keys and spare immobilser fob but where it was parked they had added a full disclock we tried to get it off for 1 hr no chance we ended up going back to his house getting a spare steering wheel and ripped the full steering wheel off and had to bolt a spare one on to drive it away .
Moral of the story is disklocks are a great added deterrent !!!
Look towards forums and people you associate with through the car world someone knows something somewhere !!!!
Did you have a spare immobiliser key or are you missing one pal?
Just trying my best to get my head around it as they would take a much more desirable car if there that good ?(Hardly opputunists car theft this one)
What make and model was the immobilser and who fitted it!!
Was the car standard engine wise as well ,anything distinctive we can look out for in for sale sections ??
Hope it turns up for you i really do this whole episode smells like a rat!!
Any suspicians or doubt bout anyone ,follow your instincts as they are usually right!!!!!!!
Did you speak to anyone who was over estatic bout your car that day?
Did you speak to anyone letting them know the accomadation you was staying at?
I absolutly despise theives of any kind especially car theives

Wounded for you mate.
I know it sounds harsh, but why take the S2 if there were cossies etc about? (and i have an s2 so no disrespect to them at all.)
Was your car on a stand with doors etc open, so they could see that it wasn't belled up?

Yeah thats the car mate, cheers for the pics!
The car was locked all day while on show at Silverstone, and never left unlocked without me standing right there, The immobiliser was an Autowatch something, professionally fitted by the security specialists round this area. I have the keys here next to me so nope, no missing fobs!
No Alarm on it as said, but there are "alarm" warning stickers in the windows and theres sensors on the front pillars where the previous owner had a go at putting one in.... this was only a visual detarant tho obviously!

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
gutted for you mate , will be keeping an eye open
in my opinion this will be have been taking to order , sort of.
back in the late 90's there was a breakers near me that were caught with stolen cars and it turned out they were going to the shows in a beaver tail then looking around the local hotels for cars with minimal security , they were taking number plates with them from other genuine cars they had in for breaking that matched what they were taking (not hard to find a red or white s2 or a white s1 for e.g).
then breaking in - bypassing the security - drive down the road and onto a flatbed - swapping plates over and it was gone

sorry to here your news man
me and a mate stayed there saturday night. we arrivied at about 6.30pm and thought it would be best to park around to the left hand side out of sight. when we were unloading our cars we noticed there was a lot of smashed glass about were you could see that it was car windows that had been smashed. we looked around to see if there were any cameras around the building as generally these palaces usually got them but noticed none so even though we could see the cars from our window where they were parked around the side we still decided to move them around to the fromt right outside the main entrance but only slept for about an hour as didnt feel comfortable leaving the car there at all. hence wont be staying there again

I would say the car was picked for it's breaking portnetial.
I maybe wrong, but the S2 has to be the most easy to break, taking the engine (numbers) out of the equation, then you have lots of bits left.
And with the vast numbers of S2's out there and most needing a resto, then doors, bonnets trim etc etc are going ot be easy to shift with a larger market than say a saff in the used parts game?
With no alarm they could pop the window, drop the handbrake and roll it out onto a low loder and be away.
Being so clean means it is easier to get top dollar for the parts.
Something like those ultra violet pens etc would be handy, alleast if you saw someone selling lots of mint red S2 parts, you could make a trip and see if it was parts from your car, bound to be advertised on ebay

20K+ Super Poster.
I nearly went with the norfolk crew, but car was not quite ready in time, but would not need a bed as was going to sleep in the car as I have in the past.
Still gutted for you.
When I did repo work you had to get into cars with no damage, it is amazingly easy, mk4 escort 15 seconds at the most.
A lot of VW SEAT cars can be got into with NO TOOLS, as can someh of the newer FORDS, without actually TOUCHING THE CAR at all, from 10 feet away.
As for the immobliser, good idea but there are ways around it in less than a minute, (but have to do some "out of the box thinking").
I always work on the philosophy that if you make yours hard to nick they will move onto someone else's, I would be amazed if they were not at the show to scour for potential victims, unfortunately thieves(some) are far from stupid and do thier homework.
One of the best cheap ideas is a hidden switch, which can be arranged in such a way that it pops loads of fuses, which you could have hidden in the loom somewhere.
There is a limit to the amount of tools they are going to carry.
Alarms are the best idea as a put off, especially if you have internal siren as it is very disorientating to anyone trying to do thier nasty work inside the car.
I do obviously cross my fingers and hope you see the car again, maybe contact ADRIAN and see if the EDP will do a coverage bit with your car details in it ?

tabetha old fords are piss to break in. I was watch some cop program once and this stolen car was abandoned locked up (old fiesta i think), and the recovery bloke shoved a thin piece of meteal with a little indent in it (a bit like a bit bottle opener if you get what i mean) shoved it between the door and window glass and pulled the lock mechanism open. Easy.

Didn't the garage CCTV show any other cars around?
Because i doubt they were walking around at 2am, the scummy cunts will have been driving around searching for a "target" car.

Keep us posted on this won't you.
Just sorry i can't help you out with my old 2k, but i will keep an eye out for a good one for you.
Caroline.

Pointless asking if the EDP/EEN would cover it as they wont. Only place you would get it is the froum boards there. I asked when Bruce Read's was stolen and got a brick wall.
To them its another stolen car I am afraid, and would be another red dot on the crime map.
The 24 years the guy got for murdering a security guard in HMV before just before Christmas 2006 is the big story in the area currently, not a stolen RST.
You would get better coverage by placing it on board like this or the surrounding area than the local rag.

Hi Steve
Carl saw this thread on Monday and told me the bad news, but I've only just had a chance to come on here (and I can't read most of the thread due to bad language blocker at work)
Really gutted for you mate, know how much you loved the car and took care of it
There really are some absolute b@st@rds about
With a bit of luck it will turn up (but I doubt it & even if it did I don't know how I would feel about having it back once its been nicked?) but failing that hopefully you will get a semi decent payout and get something else you enjoy as much if not more.
Hopefully still see you at National Day?

Hi Kev, cheers mate
To be honest i don't want to see it again now as i'm sure its in a very sorry state and it was always as near to perfect as a 1989 Ford Escort can be to me
I'll still be at National Day, but i'll be in Daz's Cossie... even if i do get another car, i won't be taking it as this was gonna be the first year my RST would have been on show @ National Day, so wouldn't seem right taking something else in a way!
See ya soon!
