Default door handle spring snaps VAUXHALL

Do these door handles normally suffer from a sapped spring on the handle, making it rattle about loosely ?
It still works perfect just is loose now, it is the second one I have done now, maybe it will have to be a new one next time not s/h.
Thanks

My mother in law has a 99 plate Corsa and her drivers door handle has just gone all floppy as well. Still works , just has no feel to it now

Sorry it's an BODYKITTED PORSCHE 911 TURBO aka astra 1.4(mk3) in disguise.
I noticed at the scrappies they were all missing these so must be very common.

On a similar note, why is it alot of vauxhauls doors "crack" or make a little noise whilst opening the drivers door? ive seen loads of people with astra's/corsa's open there doors "crunch, crack" then "crunch, crack" when they close it

I assume it's the check strap bit gets dry, I lube mine with MOTORCYCLE CHAIN WAX, ace stuff from Wurth.

Yeah that era of handles (cavalier too) do it for a past time.

The vectra ones seem better (might just be cause they are newer though!) and I believe are a direct replacement (they definately are for a cav, not positive for a mk3 astra but they look the same!)

just spoke to a mate who works for vauxhall , he said they have had loads of newer corsas in for the springs snapping and they still use a similar design

if you are after a new item i can get them at trade price from my mate just drop me a PM

as for the cracking noise , its the retainers going dry and also needing adjustment , all in all a poor design but still better than pugs that just fall off !

Thanks for the input, I suspected it was a common problem, vaux certainly should have this sorted by now, not like it's a shonky old evo/scoob/skyline is it ?
I am going to "borrow" a few from my local scrappies, robbing git charges Ł5 for s/h ones.

They make the "crack" sound because the pin that holds the check strap to the A pillar wears and the sound is the pin jumping, watch it and you will see. Easy replaced with new ones which cost around 50p each from Vauxhall.

Yep my corsa (1998) had this happen a couple of times And when I changed the handles when I got the leather retrim done I had vectra chrome handles and it happend with them also! Still open the door and the solenoids worked fine opening the door, just really annoying!

Not hard to fix, remove the handle, drive out the long pin that runs across the top, replace spring and push pin back in.
