starting trouble

Default starting trouble

right chaps


just changed the alternator on me boys mondeo,jump started as the battery was dead, all good job done. car drives fine now charging fine and all is good


but



now when you start the engine with the key i just get a clicking noise and nothing else

what could be causing this

It could be a number of things mate

* Bad earth
* Knackered battery
* Starter motor

They are fun, and normally get knackered by oil from leaking rocker cover, done three now, so used sealant all around seams, and most importantly on where the little braided motor wire goes in from the solenoid, as this soaks up oil down this wire like a wick!!
The hardest bit is the driveshaft support in the way.
