as you look at the standard temp gauge on the cosworth dash. where it says NORM. where abouts does the needle sit when your driving? i have a 4x4 cossie running stage 1 and my needle sits on the O, let me know where your needle sits and what power your running, as im not convinced mine should be running at that temp. cheeRS

Mine drove from watford to york 388bhp harvey gibbs rebuild and it stayed on the M. On the way home we got stuck near luton airport it then climbed inbetween O & R, as soon as we moved on it went back down.

My cossie is stage 2 300bhp i think n my needle sits where the R is n sometimes on the M. As long as ur gauge isnt going into the red n ur fans r cutting in it sud b ok. If the temp sensor for the gauge is the fault it sud only b about a fiver for a new switch.

they are not very accurate at all.
if i remember correctly there are quite a few different senders with different colour codes that are all physically the same size.if the wrong one is fitted the gauge can read higher or lower than it actually is.
best bet is to get an aftermarket gauge/sender wired up....
or a secs monitor which reads from the blue temp sender in the head.

Does the car over heat whe nsat in traffic do the fans work and bring the temp down ?
If all above is ok then you have no problem, as said guages are all a bit different early sierra ones were ADJUSATABLE as well fuel and temp!!

ps 350+ sits on r/m but fans on at bottom edge of O.

ever since replacing my temp sender, in a traffic jam the gauge now reads above "N", the fan will cut in and bring it back down to "O", then it will creep its way back up. When on the move, it stays at "O".
