Hey, morning all, just wondering, if on a head unit i have the front and rear speakers powere by amplifiers, i.e both RCA outputs are used, does the headunit still produce output through the normal speaker outputs?
i'm planning on my van to have 2 seperate sound stages, in the front i want to have 4 speakers, powered by the headunits f+ outputs and 4 speakers in the back powered off the headunits rca outputs
cheers

the head unit will carry on powering the normal (high) outputs through its own amplifier but you will find the rears will drown them out and they will also distort much earlier that the amped speakers , much better to get another amp just for your fronts and then it can be setup to match what you want without loads of nasty flapping noises at high volume
always thought simpler was best with ice, nice set of components up front and then just bass from the rear. The best car I ever sat in had only 5 speakers, 2 in each door (5 1/4" components with tweeters) and a 10" sub in the back. Speakers in the rear other than bass just fucks around with the sound stage, you dont go to a concert and turn your back on the speakers, you expect sound to come towards your front which is what you should try create in the car. Bass speakers can be put anywhere as you feel bass more than hear it. Just my 2p worth.
