LOT better than most people (who has never owned or driven one usually) make out.
Id say no worse in general than any other 2litre 4wd type thing, so break more than 2wd, but not a fragile shitbox.
I like em, different these days too

Heres the car in question...........
And Spec....
For Sale.
Nissan pulsar GTIR for sale one of the best examples you will find this car is very clean inside and out. spec:
Interior:
- A pillar pods.
- Apexi Boost and Oil temp gauge.
- Oil Pressure gauge.
- Greddy turbo timer.
- New after market steering wheel.
- GTIR embroided matts
Exterior:
wide mouth front bumper with black mesh.
Chassis:
- New Adjustable coilovers
- Camber kit (Just been four wheel laser aligned)
- 17" alloys (Unmarked)
Engine:
- Mongoose exhaust system.
- Decat pipe.
- Bleed valve.
- Apexi induction kit.
- Front mount intercooler.
- Helix organic clutch. (New)
- Walbro 255 fuel pump. (New)
This car is running 1Bar of boost at the moment, i have asked alot of specialist people and all say she should be running 300bhp this car is very fast and is the best handling car ive owned you will not find one that grips to the road as good as this car.
This car has been very well looked after not just by me but by previous owners. The first person to see the car will buy it.
The car comes with 11 months MOT and 5 months TAX.
What you think???
Ive spent ALOT of time and money on the 5,and theres not many that look like it now adays, and to be honest,i wanted to sell it for the cash, not a swop, but if there "that good" then i "might" consider it....

Personally I think they handle quite well as standard. Turn in is sharp, not as understeery as some of its contemporaries. Feel quite chuckable too.

(bar the aircon )
I've had one for 5.5years now. It's barely modded. Filter, exhaust, front mount and dawes device, running 1bar.
It ran a 12.7 1/4 after being rolling roaded at 246bhp
It's been threashed to death most of the time I've had it. It's still on the origional engine/turbo/gearbox/ brake discs
The p/s pump went after about 2 years.
I eventually killed the standard clutch after 3.5years. It was good enough for 12.4 1/4s at Shakespeare. It ran for a whole season slipping before I murdered it with 2 standing starts in 10 secs.
Mine's been very reliable. I think it's only been of the road for about 4days in all the time I've had it.
You do get dogs tho, like any car. Just bear in mind they were only made from 1991-1994, so any newer car you might compare them to have had alot more development in them.
Gearboxes tend to be pot luck. The can go on standard power or last on 400+
Lots of help and support on the Gtir forums if you bought it.

2 of my mates have them, a white one and a grey one.
Cool little agressive car, quite rare on the roads nowadays
Not long done an engine rebuild on one of them after he melted a piston running a gt30 1.2 bar on the standard engine forged pistons and steel rods off ebay bought, rebuilt engine and remapped with standard ecu fotted with daughterboard and evo 5 injectors... 1.4 bar seen a nice 387bhp and around 355lbft
as already said the brakes in standard form are absolutely shocking he's changed them for wilwoods for 550 quid, theyre shedloads better
even tho its on 17" wheels and only got a set of whiteline springs on the standard dampers it handles fairly well... obviously coilovers would be a better choice.

With that spec your looking about 270-280 bhp. and mid 12's over the quarter.
They understeer, unlike cossie's, but are quick on the track.
As same, std brakes are plop, and old suspension needs replacing.
Gearbox aren't that weak, but the selector forks are the weak point, as made from alloy, so dont force it thro the gears.

just for the info... its a nissan PULSAR GTi-r joking.
as stavros said, most people havn't owned one but i have and have to say it was very quick especially 1st and 2nd gear
i felt it handled well so don't know why people say it doesn't
biggest fear is if the clutch or box dies cos thats a big exspensive job... luckily mine did not go
only prob i had was the silly grins from the mr know it all's thinking i was just a body kitted sunny but i quckly fixed that.

If you do have a look at this one check the electric window and mirror switches as they have a tendancy to stop working. The rev counter also has a habit of working when it feels like it on some cars.

I have quite a soft spot for these and a few years back went to the rally of great britain in one with steve cooper from coopers tuning in manchester (his own car)it was running around 320-330bhp we had 3 of us in the car with full clothing 3 holdalls
It sounded trick with a custom exhaust and 0-100 was extremly fast i was fookin gobsmacked on the acceleration .!!
We raced everything on the way to the stages and on the stage after the rally had finished it was ruthless we ate lots of cars up:
Subaru p1
lancia delta evo intergrale
EVO 5
and all sorts of other machinery !!!
We did not get beat off nothing no shit!!!!
He could of been conservative on the bhp figure as we only got it finished the day before we went so it never got dynoed?
Pound for buck these are exceptional cars for the money and 350bhp+and not much will touch you especially on acceleration!!0-100 WHERE THE RACE USUAL IS!!!
If i did not have my heart set on a 3dr cosworth i would defo buy one as im always looking at them for sale !!
Amazing car 3 main weak points are gearbox after 350bhp if treated roughly ?
Clutches are crap oem
Pistons are a little weak once running over 300bhp
Suffer rust corrosion over rear arches if not treated and looked after!!
Great car and i would have 1 over a 5 turbo anyday different league!!!

Pete, you know me, i LOVE Renault 5 GT Turbos, but frankly, I love Pulsars more, they VERY cool IMO and far far better than most seem tho think.
They mis-understood, just like 5GTTs, thanks to bullshit myth and owners without a clue how to look after them or even realise when somethings wrong. Just like GTTs, they reliable (if quirky) if you know how to look after em, and can take a real beating just nice.
Also just like GTTs extra weight slows em down, they fast and nimble as they pretty small n light for what they are. Feel small when sitting in it too, which is good.
So basically, as youve already had your GTT fun, I say its Pulsar time, they like a 4wd GTT

I had a grey pulsar and it was a good car.
They seem very quick on quite low boost and launch and grip well.
I would have another one in a flash, would love one with a monster engine

I'm trying to chase a wiring fault with the passenger window on ours right now!
