Looking at the evo 6 prices may be able to afford one as your talking around 6-7K but then theres a big jump for the evo 7, your talking 9K+

6k or 7k for a VI - that can't be right as that's IV & V type money. To get a decent VI you will need to spend 10-12k at least.

To find a decent VIII you will be looking round the 13.5k-16k mark

I love evos but for honesty you can.t beat the raw acceleration of a modded pulsar and subarus are plop unless a decent edition p1/22b/wr1/s202 and all have not too good gearboxes ?

I voted for Subaru but its probably because I bought one last year.

For everyone who says they are common, so what, I bought one because I liked it not because it was exclusive.

Why would I want an exclusive Mitsubishi Lancer

Go for an Evo 5 or 6 and if the budget will stretch go for a nice 7

I think all earlier evos were imports and the 1st UK ones were the FQ versions in the 7 sure i will be corrected if thats wrong though.

If its for everyday use get as new a model as you can afford.

I bought mine back in Jan this year and still enjoying it although i keep looking at 5 & 6 RS's and toying with the idea of getting one of those for weekend / track fun and something like an old Golf or something for everyday

Nothing wrong with buying an import. My VIII was imported from new by it's previous owner and there's loads of non-UK Evos around.

Yeh ur right all cossies dont break. U just need 2 look after them. Subarus r just a posh vw Beatle (the older flat 4 engines)lol subarus blow number 3 piston cause the turbo is sat on the top of on 3 cylinder. I use my cossie twice a month for 2 weeks n i do 32mile a day.

I say a scooby, I just bought one picking it up next thursday, still keeping the cossie for fine weather driving though, I looked at evo's but found the parts prices higher and harder to get hold of than Scooby, but each to their own, as I do like both of them, it just came down to what I could get for my money and what the running costs are likely to be. Only had a WRX though as the sti was a little out of my reach unless I sold the cossie and I couldn't do that its the one car I always wanted.

A few insurance companies will charge more for an import, but the ones that know what they're talking about won't..... as in theory ALL Evos are imports, as they aren't made in the UK, it's just that the CCC cars destined to be UK cars when new, go to Ralliart when they dock for the modifications to be done to tag it as a UK car. The same mods [for SVA] are done by whoever else imports a new Evo but these cars won't get the CCC warranty, but whether a UK car or grey import, they all arrive in this country, when new as exactly the same car. The only Evo that can't be a grey import is an Evo VIII 260, they are all tagged as UK cars. Sometimes sellers will sell UK cars at a higher price than the imports, but not all.

My insurance company doesn't charge more for my car being a grey import, as they specialise in Evo insurance.
