Default car accident

Anyone know of any issues with being hit by a Diplomat ??

I know for sure the police can not question this person - does this mean my insurance claim is going to be a fucking nightmare?

Could be a minefield mate, never came across it before, if they are immune from prosecution does that mean they dont need insurance?

You probably werent hit by the diplomat anyhow. Just one of their staff. Yes they are still required to have Insurance. The Police CAN question them (though they dont need to attend unless someones hurt)

Hopefully be OK so just claim in the usual way.

p.s. Dont believe the bollocks in Lethal Weapon 2. A diplomat can be charged with any crime. Unless their Government decide not to "extradite" them to the UK. And no Government that we have an embassy with is likely to be too mad.

Summat along the lines of the following,

No matter who it is, they must have a licence, be insured and have a car that MOT'd to drive on the road, law states simple as,

The Police can question the Dippy same as anybody else,
The only time they cannot be is when they are seized under agreement by both Governments to be extradited and not to return from this country.

PS - If it was a Rusky and you make a claim, your doomed

From a copper,
YES they can be arrested questioned, but as soon as their/our embassy are involved they will be released, without having to say a word!!
It would be a lot quicker to just approach the embassy for it to get sorted out, they do not want bad publicity, they will settle "without prejudice" no probs.

only diplomatic police can touch them !!!, thats the red colourd police cars, the normal police can pull the car over but thats all they can do

they ARE excempt from british law too,,, this is comming from the driver of AUS 1 the main australian diplomat in this country

diplomatic vehicles though dont mean there actual diplomats inside as said, thats why they can be given tickets ect but not towed or clamped

the same driver got done for doing 120mph with the diplomat in the back, he COULD have got him off too but instead he let him get 3 points

the diplomat police deal with them, its to do with sensitive documents from other countrys that they cant make them leave the vehicle

alex you should be ok as if it was a 123 X 123 type reg thats just a staff car for the embassy, the 123 D 123 cars are actual diplomats cars and MAL1, USA1, AUS1 ect ect ect are the TOP diplomats and they can do what the fuck they like

A diplomat from my understanding is someone who works for the goverment in another country and are on buisness on foriegn soil, could even be a spy.

X cars will be embasy cars then, rather than the D cars which wil be diplomat cars right? so this means it's not subject to diplomatric imunity which means you should be able to sor things out

Aren't they the same? Or do you mean they actually have an 'x' and 'd' on the plate?

Alex: How's the car? Glad you're ok and hope you get it sorted easily.
