I naturally slowed down for a front facing speed camera the other day when a couple of bikers flew past me at around double the speed limit!
We were talking about this today and i was just wondering whether they'd go to the lengths of trying to get your plate from nearby cctv that you may have past earlier, and if they did, could they prosecute with that evidence?
Having spoken to a few bikers about this recently, it seems that loads of people dont even nbother to slow down for them.
Im just curious really, and no IT WASN'T ME!

Firstly, where would you mount it? The only possible place would be on attached to the forks like they used to years ago. However, after a few fatal and nasty accidents caused by the front plates

there is a guy at my work who is a biker, went to a local bike meet, did the flying through speed camera trick, a week later went to the same meet to find a copper armed with a photo of him going through the camera clearly showing colour of bike, stickers, helmet, leathers etc and got prosecuted!

i dont slow down for front facing speed cameras.... no point, i know someone who works on the print and post department, according to him they dont bother with most bikes unless its serious speed, then it gets passed to the police.. if they do anything from then on i have no idea.

i have been through forward facing average speed cameras in the m4 roadworks at well more than double the posted limit
why not?
i will obey the rules when all rules are policed properly - and that especially includes shit lane discipline from vehicles other than bikes

If there are any distinctive marks stickers etc on bike and they can trace through local info then they CAN and DO prosecute as it has been decided that the rider cannot use the defence of wasn't me unless he names who it was.
Rather like the pratt who went past one waving one finger way over the speed limit, he was easily traced as he was on a bike where there were only THREE of in the country, so they went round all three, one guy was away and bike was in a secure lock up one was out of the country and the other one had all the stickers etc the camera snap showed.
He was then given the option of naming who was riding or get done himself as the rider.
Remember it is a LEGAL responsibility to ensure that the person riding has insurance and you cannot of course know this without knowing who they are.

i recon that bikes should have a unique marking that shows up for infra red flashes! that way it could be painted on and over parts of the bike... then if you got stopped you could have it checked... that way forward facing cameras could get bikers that fly through cameras...
its not that im bitter, its that for every good biker out there, there is always on acting the twat! i try to be courteous(sp) to bikes... but i get a few that just sit right behind you and then overtake on corners... this wouldnt be too bad, but when you are on a counrty lane giving it some, it can be very dangerous...
p.s. i drive country lanes to work every day... so get this regularly...
