Default Engine Transplants.

Ok fellas i now have an Rs Turbo doner car.

Heres my plan, as the doner car is not being scrapped but sold on i need to do a swop kinda thing............

1988 Rs Turbo Lump into 1985 Xr3i engine bay and 1985 Xr3i lump into 1988 Rs engine bay

Whats needed to do this?

I was thinking about getting a S1 loom and putting that in the Xr?

Will the Xr lump run on the Rs's old loom in the 1988 car? Even tho there is wireing for the ecu's which wont be used?

Break the turbo, its not worth the time/hassle, and you would still make a decent bit of money off the rest of the car anyway

Ahhhh my first assumption!!!

The donor car aint a turbo car in the fullest of respects! It has a turbo engine which i'm having, the car is going to my g/f's sister so needs to have a runnig lump in it!

AFAIK You need to swap the engines and coresponding looms together!

So the turbo engine will need to the turbo loom to be transfered into the cabrio and the XR engine and loom to be transplanted to your other car

Excuse my dimness, but can you expand on splice

Andy, But the vehicle with the Rs lump in is a mk4 and the Xr is a mk3, the 2 looms are completely different!!

Would it be easier if i get a S1 loom to install the turbo lump into my Xr and get a mk4 1600i engine and put that back into the donar car??

Come on peeps..................ideas at the ready!
