Default Escort si + gti ????

Right escort boffins

am i right in saying the si has 105bhp unless its a 3 door which has the same as the gti 115bhp

what would be needed to be changed to gain the same ponnies as the 115 version before aftermarket goodies are fitted ??

is it the ecu and throttle body , maf sensor etc ??

thanks

id assume theres less chance of a si being hammered like the gti aswell

the mk5/mk5a had the old 1.8 zetec in it with 105/130 outputs. The mk6's had a newer/revised version of the 1.8 zetec in it with 115 (gti/si etc) and ford scrapped the 105/130 engines. If you have the 105 engine then source a 130 engine as it should be more or less a straight swap (dont quote me on it though), as i bet a written off 130 escort/mondeo would be peanuts.

TBH I don't think there is any mechanical difference between the Si and GTi apart from some half leather seats and some bumper spats.

My bro's other half has a nice '98 GTi and with some go faster goodies it made 143bhp at a rolling road day on a DynoDynamics rolling road

I believe the early Mk6 Si was 105bhp then the rest were 115bhp the same as the GTi. Doesnt matter whether its a 3dr or 5dr....

My old n-reg si didnt have abs, the GTi has though, apart from that i think the engine and running gear is the same

Just lookin at local cars as i only need a car to go on holiday and get to ford fair etc in a few weeks

performance wont do anything for me in reality as i have owned a stage 3 cossie so 90% of cars all feel shit ,lol

i love the escorts and ive had a few and it will be a ideal car for the missus to learn in aswell and it can be hers after that cos i have me van to get me around lol

As i said dont bother with a kitted si, they might be slightly cheaper but a proper GTi with the half leather/air con etc isnt much if you look around
Only downside is the group 13 insurance, but its never really cost me that much to insure mine
