Car looks mint

Deffo lose the"y" reg plate, it looks like a 1.6L on that plate.

Any news on the old plate, did you manage to get the transfer sorted.

I look forward to seeing the new one down the greyhound - we can rest our beer on the rear wing.

Hmmm, No Comment..... But I would say that.....

1st thing I'd do is take all the body kit off, and check for any corrosion starting behind them, and if your lucky, waxoil it to death behind the arches......if your unlucky, then get it sorted before anything else.

Depends what you intend doing with it...track days, santa pod, shows, everyday driver, ongoing project etc. Going to take BIG MONEY to get it up to the same spec as the Sapphire, and hence "as reliable". Cracking looking car though. If your planning Santa Pod, then get the diff changed otherwise it won't last long, and get one of those Rear Beams from Brom at Zoo Motorsport, then pop along to Norris Motorsport and speak to Karl, and he'll build you a proper engine for it, for about 7k. And if your doing trackwork, get some AP Brakes put on there, and a Quaife Gear Kit, and then send it to Jim Green, and he'll get it looking as nice as the Sapphire that you had...... (All in Good Fun).

Don't know much about the Spec.....Suspension, Brakes, Transmission, Diff, Engine, Ancillaries...........But for me, I had all of these uprated before the Big Engine was put in, and that saved me alot of reliability problems once the Big Engine was put in. It was instantly reliable.

Original Plate Back on, and off with the RS500 stickers.....Looks a cracking car to be honest.....but alot of money to get it to the spec of the Sapphire.

NOW : We have to wait for STAFFI's report on picking up the Sapphire from You.....LOL. Hope you don't meet on the way back.....

Very nice Martin

I would stick it back on its original plate, it wont look like a rep then

Good luck with it.

I am not being funny and i might be totally alone on this, but it would have done my nut in you asking what i was doing with it all the while if i had bought it off you. For alot of Cosworth owners a 3dr is what they have allways wanted and it is Martins choice at the end of the day.

I know Martin well enough to know that we can have a good joke between each other......

And everything he did (Apart from the Indicators....LOL) was exactly what I would have done. As for asking him about what he was doing with it..... I've never asked him anything Where'd you get that from ???

And the 3 door does look like a really nice one, and I'm hoping it is.

I was just putting from my point of view, wasn't ment to offend Jim. I dont know what relationship you and Martin have and its none of my buisness.

As for asking about the car did you not put up a post about what was happening with it, when it went away to get the beam sorted?

Anyway Gorgeous 3 Dr Martin sure you will put your mark on it

Purely from an "intrested" point of view, as I knew the cars handling needed improving, and pointed this out to Martin when he bought it. Wondered if he'd found something defective, or just the fact that it needed something better than the original design.

No Offence Taken, me and Martin have a very good relationship....Just don't tell his wife......

Well Jim' i've just got back about an hour ago and i must say, FOOK ME, that Saff FLYS pulls like a bitch all the way to the 7.5k, only thing is it pulls left to right quite alot, don't know what that is wether it;s those 3dr hubs, or it needs tracking again, but it didn't half pull on the b roads...

I still have the original hubs and lower tca arms (Complete with Polly Bushes)....... Don't want anything for them, I'll bring them to Karls when I pass bye in a few weeks. I had considered swapping them back myself, as the car always felt a bit too twitchy on B Roads. Anything other than a perfect surface and she did tramline.

On the track it definately improved the "turn in" which is what Mike "R" said it would do, but unfortunately it made it very twichy on any uneven road surface, like the nearside lane of a motorway where there where heavy trucks had left depressions in the surface, or bad B Roads.

It's only a couple of hours work to swap them over, so don't mind helping you out if you don't mind getting your mitt's dirty and Karl wouldn't mind lending us a corner of his workshop for the morning.

Thought you'd like the power band.

Would it have beat the evo/scooby.....straight line of course.

Jim, i'd be very grateful for the original patrs, don't think i can live with the tramlining..

As for the performance, straight line yes it's head and shoulders above the Evo and the Subaru, i love the car just don't like how it handles at present...

fuck me i know that saph is mint and looks the bollox but any`1 would think it was gold plated the way you go on about it yeah its well sorted but just cos you spent over the top on a pretty average engine spec you think its special.im not digging at any 1 but that 3 door is the tits and even if it doesnt handle as good or go aswell it wont take 20k to make it and it will always be worth more to.if thats dan from paces old car its the bollox

Oh.. and i would defo loose the number plate as soon as you can mate, get the original D plate put back on, i think 3 doors look alot better with original plates not private plates.. also loose the RS500 decals if i was you as you will always have people asking you if its a 500 which will annoy you after a while.. other than that top job..

Staffi,
Do NOT change the 3dr hubs / TCAs, as the handling traits you are experiencing are down to the fact that Martin wouldn't listen to my advice on setting up the geometry and he has had it set it up with TOE OUT . This makes the car VERY quick to turn in, but a bitch in a straight line . Set the car to 2mm TOE-IN and the wandering at high speed will be vastly improved, at the expense of the turn-in speed . It is JUST a set-up problem - NOTHING more!

Do NOT let anyone convince you that the car should be set to parrallel (Ford factory settings) or the car will be just as bad at high speed due to the bush deflection .
