Cossie Flywheels, thickness as std?
i'm having to skim my cossie flywheel again,
As the Helix paddle has eaten it.
Before its last skim it was 27.6mm (with out starter gear)
Then i had it ground to 26.4mm.
and looks like its gonna have another 1.6 - 2.0mm off again.
Which means it will be 24.4mm
Whats the as 'New' flywheel thickness,
and the minimium they can be ran at?

Cant help you on min thickness sorry but the guy that did mine warned about going to thin as it wont disipate the clutch heat well and could warp.
He also mentioned the heat issues were worse with a padal clutch.

i measured the deepth,
from the face (where clutch bolts on)
To the step on the back.
But the starter gear needs to be removed if using verniers.
does that sound clear?

is it a 4wd flywheel or 2wd? i know of a few cars that have had 4wd ones machined to be the same as 2wd....but i can't remember if that is just taking meat out of the back, or from the face ( i'd imagine from the back )

the other way, is to measure from the ring gear to the clutch face?
and i'll measure mine, that way we will know from the two, how thick a std escos flywheel is, and how much mines been skimmed.

Just measured a 2wd flywheel.
and thats 27.57 - 27.68 thickness, which is the same as my escos one was before i got it skimmed.
so i'm 98% sure 27.6 mm is new std thickness.

Cheers.
i get them lathe'd, takes longer, as it takes w while to cut thro the harderened spots, i usually grind the harderned area's out,.
surface grinding is faster, easier and better if it isn't lathe'd correctly.

Hi,
Its 25.15mm thick and weighs 6.29 Kg (complete with ring gear).
Note the thickness is from the back of the ring gear which is now flush with the flywheel face.
Cheers,
WD
