Saw one in Netto today for £200. Floorstanding thing about the size of one of those dehumidifier things. can't say whether it's any good though but it looked decent enough!

Where the fuck do you live, it doesnt get that hot over here does it?

my im half way up a hill and the front room faces the sun from am till 8ish when it goes over the flat and frys my bedroom in just enough time for us to go to bed

that and the leather sofas, underfloor heating and fuck knows what else seems to make the temp of my flat in the summer average 30ish

the fan just seems to blow warm air at me,, i have to open the fucking windows and thats when i remember some wanker with too much money managed to complain to the council and get the bus stop moved 500 meters up the road,,,,, OUTSIDE MY FUCKING HOUSE !!!!!

and small sprinter busses has that anoying noise they make,,, not to mention fucking air brakes

Ah i see..... a customer of mine has a DeLonghi floorstanding unit in their server room after i recommended last year that they get air con in there as their server was cooking itself.

Went there last month when it was red hot outside and was sat in the server room with my coat on! made my nose run too

Did the job anyway

I think you have to take into account the size of the room you want to cool when looking for a unit, and the fact that if you want to do your entire flat you'll have to have all the internal doors open all the time. And all the windows shut too, or it'll be like driving your car around with the windows down and the air con turned on (pointless, as it tries to cool outside as well!)

Buy one and then let me know how quiet it is.

My mate has one in his office. Whilst it is stunning at cooling, it is bastard noisy to the point where you couldn't think or even try to work!

Well im guessing that if you can sleep at night it must be quite quiet then?

I would like to get a unit but dont want one if its going to be to loud to make telephone calls with. I only have a tiny office (3.5*3)

It can be a bit noisy - but that depends on what you class as noisy. It doesn't stop me sleeping but you can't have it on all night anyway as you'll wake up with neck muscles like boards. Mine works on a timer so you can decide when you want the unit on or off.

i got one in my bedroom, ducted up the old fire place. Mine is a 9K one and costs about 13p an hour to run so does add up if you use it alot. Does the trick for one medium size run, although you shouldn't move them and start them up straight away as the coolant needs to settle i think like fridges etc.

ah, didnt mean to do a price review. Sorry.

I think i will be taking a drive by B&Q next week for one of these units then.

Just to confirm, are they quite enough for me to use in a small office and still make phone calls etc?
