Default 0-200mph times at brunters.

Rod has said in previous posts his 0-200 was sub 24secs.

Rocket Ronnies 0-200 im 90% sure (correct me if im wrong pls Porkie/Renton) was 27secs.

They both had same distance to do it in and in that distance Ronnie got around 4-5mph faster than Rod.

Rod was doing 11s at best on his 0-200runs im sure, Ronnie was doing mid 10s all day really.

Im tired so not thinking too brilliant, but how can a car with a higher top speed in a set distance, and far better launch, get a slower 0-200mph time?

Jus incase im wrong can someone confirm the times i said!
And what was Si Norris's 0-200mph? Aerodynamics or not, that thing was going some!

No bitching pls! Genuine science/maths type question!

Bit like doing 1/4 miles though steve but reverse scenario

Both cars going over 1/4 mile (rather than 200mph) both cars given a terminal (rather than distance 1.8miles)

Each qtr be it a 130mph terminal or 120mph terminal both have different 1/4 mile times, down to grip, power, gearing, weight.

Times, distance and speeds never equate. Rooftop for instance did a 10.76 @ 124mph 1/4 at totb, yet most would have a 130+mph easy terminal for same distance/time. Gearbox/torque/BHP must play a part in how fast a car can go distance/time/mph

Steve

Think Rod said in the other post though that that was not actually his 0-200mph which he said if you read it carefully they NEVER did. the top speed runs were done from a rolling start IIRC. The time he gave was a guestimate and he did actually say this if you read his post...

don't really apply to skylines as they are only 4wd when the rear wheels loose traction

Yeah, I thought at Brunters they always did the top speed run from that long right hander onto the straight? Skylines would deffo be cornering & accelerating out of that corner MUCH faster than a 780bhp RWD Saff Cossie....hence the higher top speed even though it took longer to get there

All I know is that 200mph at Brunters is VERY impressive however you get there! well done Rod, Ronnie and Simon

But in a 4 cylinder, full weight permanant 4wd road car without NOS, its mental!

Just read the other post about Simon Norris all the way through, I see Ronnie did his runs from a standing start so please ignore my previous post

When the mag comes out i think my highest actual may be 0-170, then we can make comparisons. I lost a lot at the start so at some point must have been going quite well as i dont think the 201.8 was a guess. .
Starting from a standing start aint much of an handicap. If you take the bend at 80it will be 200 metres before you are straight & these cars can reach that speed very quickly from a standing start. A couple of secs on the throttle at the end of the straight wont gain much speed these cars are 'all out' at these speeds.

Unless your a pretty damn good driver it never seems to make any difference whether you come round the bottom corner or start from a standstill.

The only real benefit other than getting a concrete 0-whatever time is the obvious lack of aggressive launch needed on each run, sparing the drivetrain a little.
