My father in law bought a T35 from Turbo technics, it has a .55 exhaust housing 360 degree bearings and cut back blades.
he is replacing his original T34 with .63 exhaust housing.
at the moment the car is set up at 360bhp and turbo technics have told him that they garentee it for 400bhp??????? cant see it doing that?

I always got told that they would struggle to get 380?
Also his hose onto the compressor housing are now to small, is there a hose that fits or does it need modification?

so a .48 .55 and .63 are all T34's and T35's basically.
ref the boost, i guess it depends on the engine as Ran said, but then if you have a 400+ bhp engine, then a T34 isnt the turbo i'd use.

its the exhaust housing that are bigger and thus what people refer a t35 to.
I'm running 2bar and yes the turbo is one its knees anything after this point, but it goes very well. I have lost count on the number of turbo's I have had to replace - think its 3 or 4
oh well annual maintenance and all that

Why is the compressor housing outside diameter bigger and who does hoses to fit?
when fitting a new turbo is there anything that should be done like turning the engine over with main plug lead off till oil comes out of turbo drain?
any running in or low boost running in to do?

you dont need to run the turbo in.
priming it is a good idea though.
Its a 70mm outside diameter inlet on the turbo.
Its bigger get more outside air in.

A 0.63 a/r T34 is not really even a 400bhp turbo (it's just people push them WAY outside their compressor maps and can just about achieve this on a good engine). So a 0.55 a/r equipped one won;t just be on it's knees, it will be pleading for mercy at 400bhp
. I can assure you it WILL go pop in a short while running the boost necessary to achieve this power, but if TT say it's a 400bhp turbo, I'd be interested at what they say is the cause of the failure when you send it back
.

oil contamination is my guess Mike...
T34 .55 is NOT a 400bhp Turbo in my book!!! nor is a .63 really!
Great Turbos though. A good T34 is punchy, reliable and suits a standardish YB really well I think. Great Turbos in my experience

So thats what i went for 8:1, T34.55, Siemens Blacks, Coilpack and Closed Loop with a 500 cooler in the front, apparently it will make a nice road car

It actually made 385bhp and 403lb.ft Tony - peaking at 34psi @ 4500rpm and holding 26psi @ 7000rpm (the only 4x803 car to achieve 172mph
), but that was in the days of the old Benzine equipped 98RON, when fuel was fuel, men were men and sheep were scared
.
However, as soon as they went to the lower grade fuel, the turbo's started shitting themselves. I had a dyno confirmed 419bhp out of light blues and a 0.63 a/r T34, but it would lunch a turbo EVERY three months
.
I doubt you could get any more than 365-370bhp on today's crap fuel with 803s. The poor old injector would be running flat out as well
