Default RS 500 manifold

Hi,

I need a question answering please

On a rs 500 inlet manifold does anybody know if the inlet runners have got dowels to locate them on the head?

I've got a set of inlet runners for sale on ebay as I don't need/want them and I've been told the std 500 ones have got dowels on them as std.

I've not seen them either - why would the manifold be doweled to the head if it's not port matched

I've seen aftermarket O-ringed done on std manifolds and I can understand doweling if the heads ported but std?

the std gasket wouldn't fit and I've never seen a 500 inlet gasket marked up differently

Its not for sealing purposes, its done because of the vibrations on a solid mounted engine shaking the manifolds loose , and yes, ive seen loads of dowelled manifolds and the last std RS 500 engine i had in had dowels in the manifold on ports 1 & 4 !

I have a 500 one in my shed and it has holes in it to locate the dowels - also the throats closest to the head are machined out slightly for about the first 10mm

cheers for the info

I'll edit my advert later - so its a case of some have, some haven't but they should have the holes for the dowels?

strange though I'll have to go and see my friends one to have a lookie if it's got the holes but he's not noticed.
