Dannn-

Because, like everything in the UK to do with cars, we get ripped off.

And this totally cuts out the middle man.

And its competition, as more than 1 person was importing cars to the UK direct with no hastle, they had to drop their prices to compete with each other.
They still making a profit over in Japan.

Also the fact these cars are pretty fucking hardcore, so a niche market, like I said, everyone loves em, but very little people have the bottle to actually buy one.

Will- Didnt I just explain that?

Matt- Yup, im a mega competative person, so thats all im interested in. Depending how good I get how quickly, and how fast progress on the S13 goes, depends what car I compete in and in what competitions though.
Im judging an event in November tho!

ROFL, that should be a general car forum slogun shouldnt it?

Its true though, but unlike 99% of people, I understand and appreciate that, and know that though I can prob diff it up it better than 99% folk on here, I cant even perfect a basic car like a volvo, never mind a full on monster like this fucker

I certainly wont be jumping in and initiating drifts at 100mph+ a hundred meters from the corner like on some bits of the vid of Kawabata driving my car

Speak for yourself, personally im a drift god!
Ask anyone who has seen me manage to fire a 300bhp+ rwd car out of a junction by dropping the clutch on it so it has to go sideways and then flapping about up the road whilist trying my luck at regaining control.
ACE Cafe Drifter baby, oh yeah........

Seriously though, i know EXACTLY what you mean, doing it on "Initial D" makes all the kids think they can do it without ever actually trying it and seeing how hard it is!

I know how hard it is to go sideways. I thought I had got hanging the back of my A4 pretty good until I got the missus to stand at the side of a roundabout with the camera. What felt like a full on oversteer moment in the car barely looked like a wobble. Did eventually crack it and do have clip somewhere but the wife went mad when I had to spend Ł450 on 4 new tyres for the daily hack so my beer and blowjob privilidges were removed for quite some time

Oranoco- Damn right

Sukhy-

Chip - Its not just Initial D etc, seems most drivers think its easy, they have a little ass twitch or a crappy bit of low speed power oversteer out of a corner and they think they can mix it with the best of em

Even some fairly impressive looking 2nd gear smokey roundabout action isnt quite the 4th and 5th gear 100mph+ madness you got in EDC etc.

And doing totally alien things like getting it sideways and sliding miles before the corner, is extra hard, i cant get the hang of that at all

deffo 101% mate, cant wait to get it here, ill never get out the thing.

what kind of R32 mate? the black/purple car i posted up on here for chip is a 4door RWD R32 with a 400odd bhp 2.5litre turbo engine and a mega suspension/transmission/everything spec and would be about 5.5k landed.

R32GTRs im not sure these days, though Renton just sold his for 5k and it was lovely, just stg1 power so 380odd bhp, but ohlins suspension and great nick.

Id want a 2 door GTS ideally.

Whats the reasoning behind them using 4 doors, or is it just a cause of they use anything and it happens to be the 4 doors that end up better bargains?

(ie im not sure if there are 4 door saloon classes they HAVE to use a 4 door for)

4door skylines etc are just to be different, stands out from the crowd, its bad enough in the UK when you go to a drift event and theres 50 cars and they all S13s, S14s, and R32s, so imagine how bad it is in Japan

About the most famous drift car in the world, Ken Nomuras R34, is a 4door, and being run by Blitz, its certainly not a money thing, lol.

A really well sorted S14 would be cool too, ive seen a fair few of them for sale.

I would imagine there is good money to be made bringing these cars in just to break though which would be a shame!

Saj at Jap Performance Parts buys crash damaged and tatty modded jap imports to break, seems to do well for it.

Seems like if they good nick its easier money just selling them though.

Cars like I got is a lose-lose situation for the sellers, nobody in the UK owns one so there no point buying one to break, and your average joe has no idea what one is so is unlikely to buy it as a whole.

mint for me tho

You mentioned S14, well in Japan they carried on making S13s till 1999, so there some cool ones of them.

This ones about 5.5k landed and is mega spec, cooler front end (ie no gay popup lights) and is a 1997 car.

My Nissan garage is fine, he even was offering to get me V-specII badges for the car, infact it was hard to convince him not to.

All parts specialists are spaccas, everywhere, its just to what level.

Going to a dealership asking for "RB26" parts was asking for trouble though, youd get the same asking for YB or even Zetecs at a ford etc...

yup, your right,...and i did it ppurposely to get an idea of my new local nissan dealership..

i expected to have to explain, but after i told them it was a NISSAN skyline, and they still didnt have a clue, i decided i wont be wasting anymore fuel money going there...just order from abbey

edit
also forgot to add...
when i phoned and asked about a top suspension arm for it, they quoted nearly 250 just for the part...
same nissan part was 160 from abbey

Main dealers are always worse than useless, I rang Brooklyn ford the other day, and asked them to order me a Ł12 part (gearbox mount). They replied sorry can't do that over the phone incase you don't collect it. So I offered to pay there and then by debit or credit card....... "sorry, company policy that we cannot process orders over the phone" ... So I have to drive a 40 miles round trip TWICE, once to order the part, and once to collect it.... Wankers , will find it somewhere else..

I love it, bodykit gives it a more modern appeal, retro jap cars are cool admit I didn't know what it was at first, thought Lancer turbo or maybe early Skyline.

Retro car with RB power

Just how many cars do you have now?!

Unbelievable that its cheaper to import Skylines and S13/14's etc cheaper than it is to buy one out of the UK classifieds

Retro? The last car I put up is retro, the older shape blue one, the one I bought is from the 90s, not sure a 90s car is retro...

And SXs and Skylines can be got cheaper over here, just not at the spec I mentioned.
But most people are too afraid to get a car of that spec, worried about it and dont understand it.

And ill have 3 cars, daily driver mondeo, mental chaser fun car, and S13 project.

Blimey I assumed was older than '90's as such a boxy ugly shape, only so far as to thinking it was late '80's so maybe wrongly labelled retro, regardless looks a beast and bet it acts like one too

Off topic but these are some sweet Skylines http://www.japanesecarimports.net/ga...info.asp?id=18

Has the R32 gone now? Didn't you have a Volvo drift practice car, and was the matt black Volvo (360?) yours?!!

I think people are slightly scared of jap cars, the unknown etc, but the probability of them breaking down must be the same as any modified (or even standard) car breaking down, over the years the amount of Jap cars on the road, UK models and imported/modified has soared

Hands up how many people have now Googled Toyota Chaser
