Good all round car as far as I know mate, might be pub talk but if it's an E36 then i've been told that the diff's in the 328 are weaker than the ones in the 325?

Good engine's, solid at 192bhp I think

Mate bought one a few months ago, check for corrosion along rear brake lines where they run over the fuel tank, check has had recall done for niskali (Spelling? ) block. Rust on rear number plate panel, front grill panel and im sure i remember him saying there was a recall on the steering linkage as well but i could be wrong.

Never heard of anything bad about diffs.

check the rear coil springs as they snap
Also the trailing arm bushes should of been done as they will be worn out by now
And the rear brake pipes rust

if its an early one pre 97 they suffer from bad bore wear due to the bore liners used, most engines have been changed under warrenty apart from that you cant really go wrong just let it warm up and you can drive it hard all day long with no worries,
and the 325i and 328i are both 2.8 and use all the same gearbox and diffs the 2.8i has slightly more power but lots more tourqe.

if you wanna have fun going sideways then dont get one with traction control as they dont have a LSD fitted to em

rear trailing arm bushes and outer lower ball joints,,, makes the car feel like the brakes are warped but they aint

tbh thats the only thing with them

theres NEVER been a diff issue with em though,,, EVER,,, so ignore that one

325i aint the same block, the 328 is a M52 engine and the 325 is a M50

the 325 dont have the niklsil issues either

mines done 150k miles and to say it gets driven hard is a understatment to say the least,,,,, its never missed a beat but its not that quick but it still sits are 130 easy and gets there in quick enough time but from 135 to 150 takes a little longer than it should

my 325i is the best car i bought imo,,,,, i don t mind the engine letting go as i wanna do a cossie conversion on it,,,,, but it dont seem to die

mate the 328 is more power and got a longer diff so it IS quicker but is also held back by the diff,,, but will cruise beter fuel at 80mph due to it being at perfect revs for fuel economy unlike a 325i

they feel quicker too ive noticed but not enough to actually care about

also the `m3 dont feel that quick either if im honest compared to a 328isport until it gets higher speedsas the M3 seems to keep acelerating to 150 at the same rate the 325/328 gets to 110mph,,, of that makes sence

they might have but the 328i can have more power released bu fitting a 325 inlet manifold

bmw have got into the habbit of fitting bigger engines and pinning back the power

the E46 316 engine is a 1.9 lump belive it or not

the 328 was ment to be pinned back to give the extra for the M3 but that ciuld be just bollox
